I LOVE this “new to me” fun fold! I got the idea from Wendy Cranford several years ago and can’t believe this is the first time I am trying it! It is super easy and such a fun card to make and send!

What is a spanner fun fold? This card opens up twice! The strip that spans the front of the card attaches to the two outside flaps creating the card front. There’s even a little hidden message under the spanner! The center panel of the card opens up second to reveal the inside of the card. As always I will include the PDF below. Let’s take a closer look at how this fun fold opens.



The Traditions of Christmas is my favorite new suite in the September-December Mini Catalog!

I love designer series paper (in case you didn’t already know that! LOL) and this pack has a timeless feel with traditional reds and greens, accented with touches of gold foil.

I used 3 of the patterns on my card today. I cut a continuous pattern from the DSP for the front of my card then added a different pattern for the spanner as well as my 1″ strips on the inside. I love how Stampin’ Up!’s DSP patterns coordinate. I really like the color combination of the Reds & Greens with Secret Sea with Pool Party on today’s card.

You’ve probably noticed by now that I like to show a different variation with my second card each week. Let’s take a look at the gorgeous Charming Day wedding card I created (per request from my daughter for a friend’s wedding she is going to next month).

I chose to use an embossed layer instead of DSP on my “spanner” strip across the front. I also set my focal image off to the side instead of in the center. (Remember…there are no right or wrong ways to do mystery stampin’!)
I used several Stampin’ Blends to color the flowers and leaves from the Charming Day stamp set to coordinate with the DSP.


I had to mask the sentiment from the Lifetime of Love stamp set to leave out “congratulations” as I wanted to use a larger one on the front of my card. The Wonderful Thoughts Bundle has a bunch of sentiments with coordinating dies to cut them out! (It is one of my favorite sentiment stamp sets!)
Inside I stamped another sentiment from Lifetime of Love.

You could easily fold a check or cash and tuck it under the ribbon on the flap or use a glue dot to attach a gift card. I love this designer series paper too! It makes a perfect fall wedding card (or birthday card, thinking of you, thank you, sympathy….LOL!)
