N is for Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes

Welcome back to my ABC “Sale-A-Bration” Series! This series showcases products from the 2018 Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochures. Today I’m showcasing the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes found on page 19 in the Occasions Catalog.  These are easy to overlook but you don’t want to miss out on these little gems!  I have been on a roll making a bunch of these note cards. They are small and narrow and perfect for little notes to put in your child’s lunchbox, husband’s briefcase, or to give with homemade baked goods to a friend or neighbor.

My husband does most of the cooking in our house but I enjoying baking.  A few of my favorites are homemade strawberry bread, apple bread, and banana nut bread. Many friends brought us meals during my recovery and I thought I would bake some breads to show my appreciation. The Tutti-frutti 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper is perfect for these adorable thank you cards to go with my loaves of bread.  The 2 1/4″ Circle Punch makes a quick envelope liner to coordinate with the card!

The sentiment from the Fruit Basket Stamp Set is perfect for the inside. There’s still plenty of room to add a personal message.

I also made some note cards to tuck in with customer orders. The leaves on the thank you stamp from A Good Day coordinates nicely with Petal Garden Designer Series Paper. I colored the leaves with my Old Olive Stampin’ Blend.

You get 20 Thick Whisper White cards and 20 envelopes for just $8.  They are really quick & easy to decorate. You can get 4 card fronts from just 1 piece of 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper! Stampin’ Up!’s CEO, Sara Douglas, did a Facebook Live video showcasing a quick & easy way to cut 6 x 6 DSP to get 4 card fronts! You can Click Here to see her video. I stepped mine up a little with a layer of coordinating cardstock measuring 2 1/4 x 4 1/4. I added some ribbon and then stamped and punched the sentiment using the new 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch from the Occasions catalog. I popped up the sentiment layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like to challenge myself to use every little piece of DSP and so I used the leftover 2 x 2 piece to make this Easter card.

I cut the leftover piece of DSP in half so I had two 1″ x 2″ pieces.  I added a 2″ x 2″ piece of Whisper White which I used to stamp the bunny from A Good Day Stamp Set and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I added Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon above and below the white piece. This little bunny is so cute! I added a little color with Stampin’ Blends.

My last card is a sweet treat holder for St. Patrick’s Day.

I found these chocolates at our local “Candy Kitchen” Shop. They have delicious homemade chocolates! I used some retired Emerald Envy DSP and punched a circle through the top layers using the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I adhered the candy with a glue dot on the inside. The sentiment on the front is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and the inside sentiment is from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set.

The inspiration for my card today came from the beautiful spring wreath my sister made me for my birthday.  We celebrated a little early this year and I couldn’t wait to hang it on my front door.

img_0044

I love the way she personalized my wreath with the big monogrammed letter.  To recreate this beautiful wreath, I used the Large Letter Framelits to cut the letter S from Daffodil Delight cardstock. I stamped the wreath from Wondrous Wreath in Old Olive and then turned it slightly and stamped it again without reinking. I cut it out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. I punched flowers from Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight cardstock using the Tree Builder Punch and Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  I curled the flowers using the end of my stylus to give them some dimension. I added a little Pear Pizzazz ink to the center of the yellow flowers using my blender pen.  I used the Everyday Jar Framelits to cut some stems from Always Artichoke and Old Olive  cardstock to add some more greenery to my wreath.  I popped up the wreath and monogram with Stampin’ Dimensionals and attached the greenery and flowers with glue dots.img_0087

My sister has made me several wreaths before and every year a bird builds a nest in our wreath and lays eggs. This wreath came complete with a bird and eggs so perhaps we will get to use our front door this year.  I made my nest with linen thread and just wrapped it around my finger and attached it with glue dots.  The “eggs” are punched from the Tree Builder Punch.  I tucked the tips of the “leaves” into the nest so you just see the rounded end.  I used Melon Mambo Thick Bakers Twine and Old Olive Bakers Twine to make my bow and attached it with a glue dot.

My card base is a 4 1/4″ square from Sahara Sand cardstock.  I cut a 4″ square and scored it at 1/2″ on all four sides using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I like the way the scoring highlights and frames the wreath.  I used the Envelope Punch Board to make a matching custom envelope for my card. The Envelope Punch Board (133774) is one of my favorite tools and it’s a bargain for just $20! Not only is is so easy to use to make custom envelopes but it also makes great treat holders and other 3D items. Check out this video and see just how easy it is to use!

Another favorite of mine is embossing folders…they make it quick and easy to add depth and texture.  I used the Floral Affection Embossing Folder to add some texture and fun to the envelope flap.

Just a Note for Back to School

img_3841

I seem to have apples and school stuff on my mind this week! Today’s post-it note holder would be a great gift to give with the card I made yesterday. The apple DSP was still sitting on my desk along with some post it notes. (I am such a list person and anytime I get a thought or idea I have to jot it down. Sometimes I need a list to remind me of the list!)   I decided to use the leftover paper and make this post it note holder.  I am going to keep this one for myself; however, now that I know how quick and easy it is to make, I think I’ll make some for the office staff at work. They always do so much for everyone else!  I bet you can think of someone who might like one too.  Or just make one for yourself.

I watched a rather looooooong video by Jan Brown from the UK.  She CASed (Copied And Shared) it from someone else. I decided to change it up as I did not need to put a pocket on the back to hold a business card or gift card for myself. I suppose if you want to make one for someone else and put a nice gift card in the back no one would complain. LOL  I did try to simplify the steps so you don’t have to watch the 45 minute You Tube video but, just in case you want to watch Jan’s video you can click HERE.

Here’s the details for mine. Start with a 5 3/4 x 12 piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  With the short side across the top of the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, score at 1/2, 1, 4 3/4, 5 1/4.  With the long side at the top, score at 2, 2 1/2, 6, 9 1/2, 10 1/2, 11 1/2.

img_3819

Next you need to cut 1 inch off the long sides from the 2 1/2 inch score line. See the photo for where to cut and snip.

img_3825

Fold and crease on the score lines with a bone folder. See the photo for which way to fold along the score lines. The box section is in front and it looks like a tent from the side view.

img_3827

Attach DSP (3 5/8 x 1 7/8, 3 5/8 x 3 3/8) and then put Tear & Tape Adhesive as shown and adhere the holder together.

Wrap Old Olive Baker’s Twine around the holder and tie a bow.  To decorate,  I used the Sprinkles of Life stamp set to stamp the tree leaves in Pear Pizzazz on Old Olive cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Wishes with Soft Suede ink. The tree leaves get punched out with the Tree Builder Punch. Stamp the tree trunk from the Thoughtful Branches stamp set in soft suede ink and cut it out with the matching Thinlits Die.

img_3845

img_3840

Attach the tree to the front of the holder with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add your Post-It Notes and that’s it! There’s room on the side of the holder to put a pen or pencil.  I’m going to put a small golf pencil in mine.

img_3844

img_3843

I really like the way the Sprinkles of Life and Thoughtful Branches Bundles go together. This would make a nice little gift set. You could put the “Just a note” sentiment on the cards too!   If you missed yesterday’s post how to make the card you can see it HERE.

Stamp Sets: Sprinkles of Life, Thoughtful Branches, Watercolor Wishes  Inks: Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz  Papers: Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper  Tools & Accessories: Tree Builder Punch, Beautiful Branches Thinlits Dies, Old Olive Baker’s Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Post-It Notes

I remember taking my kids shopping for new backpacks and back to school supplies each year. Before they went to school I always took the traditional back to school photo on their first day. Now that my youngest is off at college, I didn’t think I’d have any first day photos this year. I was touched and surprised when my daughter texted me this photo on her first day of classes at college. So sweet and thoughtful of her to remember!

They grow up so fast! Here are pictures of my son and daughter on their first day of kindergarten. Boy do I miss those days!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
