Y is for Shades of Yellow

We are near the end of my ABC’s with DSP series.  My favorite color is yellow.  I’d say  I’m mostly a Daffodil Delight or So Saffron shade of yellow gal; however, I have a new found likeness for Delightful Dijon since discovering the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack. Previously, I shared a window pane card I made with this DSP Stack.  If you missed it (and the cool trick to make a double window), you can Click HERE.  Today I am going to share another card I made using one of the photographic artwork designs.

Stampin Up Time of Year Thinking of You card idea with Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I had a request to make some cards for a patient undergoing cancer treatment.  I thought this paper would be perfect as I love the underlying “wish” in the design. I remember as a kid I would pick these “flowers”, make a wish, and blow the seeds everywhere.

This was a simple card to put together and I used every bit of my 6 x 6 DSP.  First I cut 2 1/4 x 6 from the top section of my paper (which I used to adhere to the flap on my envelope).  Then I cut 1 inch off my remaining 3 3/4 x 6 piece.  (I saved the 1 x 3 3/4″ piece for the inside of my card.) I heat embossed my sentiment using a cool technique for color embossing.  First you ink the stamp in Versa Mark. Then, with the Versa Mark on your stamp, ink it in the color of your choice before stamping it on your cardstock. (I chose Soft Suede ink.)  Next, sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder on your sentiment, pour the excess back in your container and heat your stamped image with the heat tool.  You can heat emboss any color you want using the Clear Embossing Powder!  How cool is that?!

I layered my DSP on Soft Suede cardstock ( just 1/8″ larger) and added some linen thread to keep it light.  (I tried ribbon but I didn’t want to cover any of the beautiful design on my paper.)  I popped the layer up on dimensionals and adhered it to a Delightful Dijon card base.  I repeated the layers for the inside of my card and added the 1 inch piece I had leftover from my 6 x 6 piece.

O is for Ombre

img_4367

Welcome to my ABC’s of Stampin’ series. Today I am going to share something new from Stampin’ Up! this year…Ombre Stampin’ Pads. Stampin’ Up! introduced several Ombre stamp pads in the annual catalog (page 180) and 2 more in the new Holiday catalog (page 20 & 51).  While these stamp pads are not made for re-inking, they do make a great card. Watch this short video from Stampin’ Up! to see how they work.

I had fun playing with the Ombre ink in shades of Emerald Envy to make this Christmas card.  I ombre-inked up the gorgeous sentiment from the Time of Year hostess stamp set on whisper white cardstock.  I cut out the banner using the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  I layered the sentiment on mint macaron cardstock and adhered it to the embossed layer. I wanted my embossed layer to be vertical and symetrical ( I know I am probably the only one who would notice!) so I cut 2 strips of Emerald Envy cardstock (2 x 4 1/4) and ran them through the Big Shot using the Holly Embossing Folder.  I attached these to the card base with Tombow Liquid Glue.

I attached the banner with Stampin’ Dimensionals and embossed another piece of Emerald Envy for the envelope flap.  A few Pearl Basic Jewels finished it off. This card was simple, quick and easy with the help of the Ombre Stampin’ Pad.  I wish I had ordered all the different colors!

Card Created By Denise Weidele

I love the coral, white, and sand color combination Denise used along with a touch of yellow for the flowers.  This card showcases the Swirly Bird stamp set and matching Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. So pretty!!!

Card Created By Susie Guenther

This card is over the top!  Susie used a bunch of different stamp sets to create this card: Gorgeous Grunge, Playful Backgrounds, Time of Year, Garden in Bloom, Stylized Birthday, Birthday Banners, and Balloon Celebration.  I’m afraid the photo does not do it justice as you can’t see the way it sparkles on the front.  Here’s another photo showing the inside…the sentiment appears like magic when you open it!

I need to give this inside fold a try. So cool!

Card Created By Mary Spurrier

Mary used the new exclusive hostess set, Baskets for You, with Stampin’ Up markers, Aqua painter, and colored pencils to color the flowers in the basket. The sentiment is from Best Birds stamp set. I like the way the basket looks like it is just sitting on the mantle.  How clever!

Card Created By Carolyn Whitacre

Carolyn used one of my favorite new stamp sets and matching die cut, Flourishing Phrases.  This would make a beautiful set of notecards to give as a gift someone.

Card Created By Beverly Heclo

The Hardwood stamp set used here is not new but the May Flowers Framelits are.  These framelits are on my wish list. I love the way Beverly layered the flowers to add dimension.

I will be sharing more swap cards when they arrive.  I hope you will check back again. Reminder…today is the last day to enter the Jar of Love contest.  If you missed that post you can click HERE to enter.
