A simple Thinking of You Card

I had a request to make a simple thinking of you card.  Here is my card.

Thinking of you sentiment from Sheltering Tree Stamp set

I started with a piece of Sahara Sand for my card base. (This is my go to neutral.)  I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set onto the card base using Memento Black ink. I stamped more leaves on Mint Macaron cardstock and the flower on a scrap of Whisper White.  I punched the flower out with the Pansy Punch and fussy cut the leaves with my Paper Snips (Love these scissors!).  I attached the leaves with glue dots and the flower is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the center of the white flower and stamped my envelope to match. Quick & easy!  I hope it meets the simple card request.

You could easily change the sentiment on this card for birthday, sympathy, thank you, just a note, etc. I love getting requests for cards.  What would you like to see next?

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thinking of You

Stampin Up Thoughts & Prayers Thinking of You card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love this Thinking of You sentiment as you can use it for any occasion…Sympathy, Get Well, Birthday, a note, etc. This is also a good “formula” style card and is one I use again and again. Just change the stamp set, colors, and embossing folder and you have a totally different look.  I love using embossing folders to add texture. They really are the best bang for your buck!  It provides a nice background for the framed image on this card. You can even emboss the envelope!  In the photo below I show using both sides of this embossing folder.  Which do you like better?

Keep the dimensions for this card and if you make one please email me a photo. I’d love to see what you make!

The Mint Macaron card base measures 8 1/2 x  5 1/2 and is scored at 4 1/4.  The Very Vanilla embossed layer measures 5 1/4 x 4.  I used the Petal Burst embossing folder. The next layer (the same color as the base color) measures 4 x 3 1/4. The image is stamped on a piece of 3 3/4 x 3 Very Vanilla. Don’t forget to stamp the envelope and the inside of your card at the same time.

The sentiment is stamped with Mint Macaron ink and both layers are cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits. You will notice I only used part of the sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  I inked my stamp then used tape to cover the part I did not want to show. This way only part of the sentiment is stamped on my card. You could use a Stampin’ Write Marker to do this and just ink what you want but, if your stamp is not thoroughly cleaned and dry you may get a faint image. (My problem was my stampin’ scrub needed to be rinsed out!)

The sentiment layer and the stamped image layer are attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I tied a simple knot using mint macaron ribbon and attached it with a glue dot.  I added the tiniest pearls in the center of each flower. This is one of my favorite stamp sets!

Y is for Shades of Yellow

We are near the end of my ABC’s with DSP series.  My favorite color is yellow.  I’d say  I’m mostly a Daffodil Delight or So Saffron shade of yellow gal; however, I have a new found likeness for Delightful Dijon since discovering the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack. Previously, I shared a window pane card I made with this DSP Stack.  If you missed it (and the cool trick to make a double window), you can Click HERE.  Today I am going to share another card I made using one of the photographic artwork designs.

Stampin Up Time of Year Thinking of You card idea with Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I had a request to make some cards for a patient undergoing cancer treatment.  I thought this paper would be perfect as I love the underlying “wish” in the design. I remember as a kid I would pick these “flowers”, make a wish, and blow the seeds everywhere.

This was a simple card to put together and I used every bit of my 6 x 6 DSP.  First I cut 2 1/4 x 6 from the top section of my paper (which I used to adhere to the flap on my envelope).  Then I cut 1 inch off my remaining 3 3/4 x 6 piece.  (I saved the 1 x 3 3/4″ piece for the inside of my card.) I heat embossed my sentiment using a cool technique for color embossing.  First you ink the stamp in Versa Mark. Then, with the Versa Mark on your stamp, ink it in the color of your choice before stamping it on your cardstock. (I chose Soft Suede ink.)  Next, sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder on your sentiment, pour the excess back in your container and heat your stamped image with the heat tool.  You can heat emboss any color you want using the Clear Embossing Powder!  How cool is that?!

I layered my DSP on Soft Suede cardstock ( just 1/8″ larger) and added some linen thread to keep it light.  (I tried ribbon but I didn’t want to cover any of the beautiful design on my paper.)  I popped the layer up on dimensionals and adhered it to a Delightful Dijon card base.  I repeated the layers for the inside of my card and added the 1 inch piece I had leftover from my 6 x 6 piece.
