Happy Birthday Carl!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  He spoils me 364 days of the year so I am excited to surprise him today! We recently attended a Casino Night fundraiser for my school and had such a great time. Here’s a photo of us from the event.

I thought I would continue the theme for his birthday.  Here’s the card I made for him.

Stampin Up birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used several retired stamp sets, dies, and DSP to create this card. I know my husband is going to love it! The red glimmer paper and silver foil really make this card sparkle! Here’s a close up of the “slot machine”. The lever actually pulls down! I fussy cut the cherries from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired).

Some chocolate covered “casino chips” add a sweet treat.

Can you guess his birthday gift? I made these “dice” to go with the card to hold his “chips” and added surprise.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Cube Box idea - Jeanie Stark Stampin Up

The cube box is quick & easy to make with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I started with a piece of 8 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock.  With the long side across the top I scored it at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10.  I scored the short side at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2.

Look at the photo below to see where to cut to make the box. Remove the little rectangle from the bottom of the box and cut up each of the score lines along the bottom. You remove quite a bit from the top of the box just saving one section for the top/lid. Notch the ends to make it easy to close the box.

Apply Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the box. Fold the bottom flaps in and adhere with Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive.  I punched 3/4″ circles and adhered with Multipurpose Glue to the sides of the boxes to look like dice.

For his birthday gift, I booked a weekend getaway at the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino.  I wanted to include a little extra surprise with some “gambling” money. The cube box is a great way to give cash. I folded $ in thirds accordion style and attached with washi tape. The washi tape can be removed without tearing the bills. It is so much fun to pull the top bill and see what looks like a never ending money box!

I hope he’s feeling lucky! I love the way this makes such a fun gift presentation.

P is for Pop Up Fun Fold

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series. Today’s card is one I have made several times.  I love this Pop-Up fun fold!

Pop Up Fun Fold Card. For directions and supplies visit www.juststampin.com

I used the Affectionately Your Specialty Designer Series Paper for my card base.  This piece is a thick cardstock with copper embossing.  Oh how I love it! It is retiring tomorrow so if I were you I would stock up now…it’s even on sale!!! Click HERE to add this to your shopping cart.

To make the pop up card you need a piece of cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 11. Score at 1, 2 3/4, 3 3/4, 5 1/2, 7 1/4, 8 1/4, 10. Line it up in the personal trimmer in the center (at the 5 1/2 inch score line) and trim from 3/4 inches – 3 1/2 inches. The arrow on the cutting blade makes  it easy to see where to cut.

Next, fold the cardstock along the center cut line and trim the opening with paper snips for a clean cut along the score line.  Then fold along all score lines. Apply Tear & Tape Adhesive along the top and bottom of the card base.

I heat embossed the sentiment from Big on Birthdays on a piece of 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 Night of Navy cardstock using Copper Embossing Powder. I layered the sentiment on Flirty Flamingo cardstock that’s just 1/4″ larger (2 3/4 x 5 1/2). Notice how I stamped higher on the cardstock to make sure it would show when the card is sitting in the base.  I used the Star Blast Edgelits Dies (also retiring) to cut the design from Copper Foil.  I adhered it with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

The card slides up and down through the slot.  It’s so cool how it folds flat for mailing and is free standing once it is opened.  I wrapped some of the new Copper Trim around the card and tied a bow. I punched the flower from Flirty Flamingo cardstock using the Pansy Punch and stamped the center with VersaMark using the Love & Affection Stamp Set and heat embossed it before adhering it to the card front. I adhered a piece of 2 1.4 x 6″ piece of DSP to the envelope and trimmed the excess.

Here are some other Pop-Up cards I made previously using the Gift of Love Stamp Set (retiring May 31). You can click on the image to see the original post with lots photos.

D is for Dutch Door Fun Fold

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series.  Today’s card is a Dutch Door Design. It is so much fun to make and uses very little supplies.

img_2189

To make this fun fold start with a piece of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 cardstock and score it at 4 1/4.  Don’t fold along the score line just yet as you will want to cut first.  Lay your paper in the paper trimmer at the halfway mark, 2 3/4″.  Cut from the end in to the score line then rotate the paper and cut up to the cut line. You are removing the top portion of your card front.

I used the piece I removed to cut out the Star Blast Edgelits Die (retiring).  I stamped a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White cardstock using the Birthday Blast Stamp Set (retiring) and Flirty Flamingo ink. I attached this to the inside of my card.  Next I adhered the star blast die cut to the front of my card making sure to line it up over my stamped stars. I cut a piece of 2 1/2 x 4 Flirty Flamingo DSP from the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack (retiring) and adhered that to my card front on top of the die.  I stamped my banner on a piece of 1 1/4 x 4 whisper white then punched the end with the Triple Banner Punch and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The only thing left to do was decorate the envelope to match.

You could easily use this card for graduation, anniversary, retirement, good grades, etc. in addition to birthday like I did.  I love this stamp set and dies and am sad to see it retiring next month.  It is  fun and versatile.  You could cut out the Large Number dies to put on the front to use for a graduation card. The Stamp Set and Dies are still available.  The dies are only available while supplies last. Click HERE and HERE to see more fun projects I did with this stamp set and die. *The die is on sale for 30% off.  Reg. $20/Sale $14.

Have a Delightful Day!
