A Sentimental Fun Fold Card for the Pals Blog Hop

2019-September Blog Hop Badge

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects for “It’s the Sentiment That Counts”  – showcasing new or favorite sentiments as the focal point of their project.  You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin’ Up! has so many great sentiments to choose from it was really hard to pick a favorite. Then inspiration hit me as I was decorating my home for fall.

Thanksgiving pillow

I love the sentiments on this pillow (enough to buy two to sit on my dining room chairs). It really sums up how I feel! There’s inspiration everywhere! I love a challenge and decided to recreate this “sentimental” pillow for my card.

Stampin' Up! Country Home and To A Wild Rose Fun Fold Thanksgiving card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used two stamp sets for my sentiments, To A Wild Rose and Country Home. This pop up fun fold design really showcases the sentiment layer and makes it the focal point. I used the Stamparatus and the new Delicata Golden Glitz Metallic Ink to stamp my sentiments. I stamped grateful twice, first in Golden Glitz then with Soft Suede so it would be darker like the pillow but I also wanted it to shine like the others.

It’s hard to see the shine in my photo but trust me, it’s there. I punched and cut the leaves from Gold Foil and glued them on before embossing the sentiment layer with the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it the look of fabric like the pillow. (Sometimes I do go a bit overboard when I’m trying to recreate the look; however, I really like how this turned out and probably wouldn’t have thought to do that if it wasn’t for my inspiration piece.)

You can stamp a message and/or write a note on the back of the card. The sentiment I used is from Country Home. This card can sit on a shelf or desk and folds flat to fit in an envelope.

Check back tomorrow for the tutorial how to make this fun fold card. You can use this design with other sentiments for many different occasions! Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out on project ideas and more!

So what do you think…Did I get the look of my inspiration piece? Leave a comment below and let me know where you find inspiration.

A Trip Down Daisy Lane

The other day I posted a set of daisy cards showcasing the new In Colors.  If you missed that post you can view it HERE.  Before I announce the winners of those cards I want to share some cards that were inspired by my stamped envelopes the other day.

After I stamped the envelopes the other day I feel in love with those daisies and decided they deserved a card of their own. I used the new Daisy Lane Stamp Set (available June 4th) and the Daisy Delight Stamp Set.

I love how these two stamp sets compliment each other. And the Daisy Punch works with both sets! A NEW medium Daisy Punch to go with the Daisy Lane Stamp Set will be available when the annual catalog debuts on June 4th.  You’ll be able to purchase the set as a bundle and save 10%! What you won’t be able to purchase come June is the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes I used for today’s cards! They are retiring and available while supplies last. I love these little note cards!  They are perfect for tucking in gifts or giving with a plate of cookies, etc. You get 20 note cards & envelopes in a pack! I always love to decorate the envelopes to coordinate with my cards. Here’s a close up of each…in the 2019-2021 In Colors.

This is what I call simple stamping! I used the Stamparatus for perfect alignment every time!

I added a bow using the Mossy Meadow Linen Thread (from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack available June 4th) and I was done – quick & easy! It would be great to make a bunch of these to have on hand to give out when you go through the drive thru for your morning coffee, visit the doctor’s office, stay at a hotel, etc.  I just recently had surgery and I can not say enough about how wonderful the nursing staff was at the hospital! I am so thankful for their help and support! I will be sending them thank you cards for sure! I was hoping to be able to get enough blog posts scheduled in advance so I could have surgery and be back to blogging before anyone knew; however it seems that won’t be the case.  If you’ve been following my blog you know I’ve been trying to avoid surgery the past 15 months after dislocating and fracturing my elbow.  It has been a long process with lots of physical therapy but it seems there was more nerve and ligament damage than anticipated. I am hoping I’m finally on the road to recovery!  My daughter will be home from college next week and I know she will be a great help!  I’ll be putting her to work getting product shares ready. *More information about my “Suite” Product Shares coming soon!

And now for the news you’ve been waiting for…

From the comments the other day it seems that Terracotta Tile is the favorite In Color.  I appreciate everyone who took the time to comment.  I always love to read what you have to say! Congratulations to the following winners…. Kim Johnson, Claudia Piegdon, Chris R., Linda, Mary Ann H!  Email me (j.stark@myactv.net) your address and I will put your card in the mail.  Enjoy the new In Colors!

Have a great day!

Oops! Card and Blog Candy Winner

Yesterday I shared a spring wreath birthday card I made using the Stamparatus.  If you missed that post, you can see it HERE.  I love the Stamparatus for many reasons, one of which is I get a “do over” if I don’t get a good image the first time I stamp.  It’s so easy to just reink and stamp again…it stamps in the exact spot making it look great every time! Here’s a video showcasing the Stamparatus if you want to see it in action.

So, what do you do if you get too much ink? I’m sure we’ve all experienced inky fingers getting on our project after it was finished! I prefer not to start over again so I try to turn my “boo boos” in to new creations.  Let’s face it, the recipient had no idea what my first attempt was supposed to look like (right?). Most times I just add an embellishment to cover it up (which is why I’m in love with the new Butterfly Duet Punch and Bitty Blooms Punch Pack).  Unfortunately, that wouldn’t work with this particular oops! Look what happened when I stamped the sentiment (after I had stamped my pretty spring wreath).

Stampin' Up! wreath builder template - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I hate it when ink gets on the rim of the stamp and transfers to the paper! I did not want to toss my pretty wreath! So a quick fix was to stamp the sentiment again on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, punch it out with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch and cut a navy layer with the Layering Circles Framelits.  Just adhere on top and mission accomplished!

I like to challenge myself to find a way to “make it work” before tossing it in the trash and starting over. My friend Susan gave me a Tombow sand eraser and it helps to fix little smudges.
