Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team is showcasing “Gifts From the Garden.” We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin' Up! Celebrate Sunflowers fun fold all occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The inspiration for my card today came from this garden photo I took many years ago.

When my son was little we planted sunflowers.  All summer long he watched them grow and got so excited the taller they grew.  He couldn’t wait to get dressed, run outside, and stand beside the sunflowers to see how tall they were in comparison to himself. He would report daily and tell me it was as tall as his “boo boo”, up to his knees… on up until they were over his head. He is all grown up now and started a new job this week.

I chose Celebrate Sunflowers to make a card to congratulate my son. This bundle is one of My Favorite Things from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!  You can see all of My Favorite Things HERE.

My card features four of the new In Colors (Misty Moonlight, Cinnamon Cider, Bumblebee, and Just Jade). The double Z fun fold design was perfect to showcase this “growing” sunflower. If you look at the side view you can see how it got it’s name.Stampin' Up! Celebrate Sunflowers fun fold all occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love the different sentiments and fonts in this stamp set! They are versatile and work for thank you cards and many different celebrations…birthday, graduation, job promotion, etc. The sentiment I used inside was perfect for my growing sunflower!

Check back tomorrow to see another version of this card as well as all the details to make this fun fold! *See below for a complete list of the products I used.

Here’s a fun fact about sunflowers.

Stampin' Up Gather Together Bundle with Decorative Mask technique Thanksgiving or Thank You card and gift idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The sample for the Gather Together Bundle on page 5 in the Holiday Catalog caught my eye and I knew I wanted to recreate it. Here’s the inspiration and my card side by side. I used the same stamp set but different color ink for my background. I layered mine with Gold Foil and added a strip of vellum.

Who knew the background was actually sponged using a mask?! Oh my, now I have another favorite technique! I have been having so much fun playing with the new Decorative Masks.  They are found on page 35 in the Holiday Catalog and I missed them the first few times I browsed through the catalog. Take a look at these fun designs.

Stampin’ Up! Basic Pattern Decorative Masks

I used sponge daubers and 4 ink colors (Grapefruit Grove, Terracotta Tile, Crumb Cake, and Delicata Golden Glitz) to get the effect I wanted. It was so much fun! I did the envelope too!

I cut the leaves from the Gathered Leaves Dies from Grapefruit Grove, Crushed Curry, and Cajun Craze cardstock.  I love how the dies cut and emboss at the same time! I sponged the leaves with the Delicata Golden Glitz Ink and popped them up with Dimensionals on top of the vellum strip and Gold Thread.

This is one of the cards everyone made at my monthly card club and the ladies loved it! This sentiment works for a Thanksgiving or thank you card. Of course you can easily change the sentiment and use it for birthday, get well, thinking of you, etc.  I had the piece I used to demonstrate and not wanting to waste anything I decided to use it to decorate one of the new Gold Mini Pizza Boxes. Talk about easy! All I had to do was cut it to 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 and wrap the box with Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon.

I cut and sponged the leaves the same as I did for the card and punched a 2 1/4″ vellum circle. I added the gold thread to tie in with the card and now I have a coordinating gift box. Here’s what I put inside….

… leaf shaped wax melts! The best part….I found them at the Dollar Store! (Remember….It’s all about the presentation! LOL) I stamped the large leaf from the stamp set in gold and the sentiment is from the same set (Gathered Leaves) stamped in Cajun Craze. The perfect little gift for a hostess.  It just so happens I will be needing this hostess gift for Sunday as I am going to a friend’s house to make “velvet” pumpkins. We were told to bring a glue gun, old tube socks or batting, and some fabric. I have no idea how to do this but it sounds like fun! Here’s another look at the card and gift.

E is for Embossing Folders

Welcome to my ABC “Sale-A-Bration” Series! This series showcases products from the 2018 Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochures. Today is all about Embossing Folders.  Embossing adds so much texture to your projects and they are a great bang for your buck! Previously, I shared a card I made with the new Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (which is included in the Blossoming Basket Bundle) featured in the new Sale-A-Bration release. If you missed the post, click HERE.

There are 3 new embossing folders featured in the Occasions catalog: Petal Pair, Simple Stripes, and Scattered Sequins.

EF Petal Pair

Today I’m showcasing my favorite, Petal Pair. I love that you get 2 beautiful folders in this set! I made 3 cards to share with you using the floral design. There are so many ways you can use this embossing folder to get different looks.  It is perfect on it’s own or you can use different techniques to add color.

Card #1

Stampin Up Perennial Birthday Stamp Set and Petal Pair birthday or all occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This card is clean & simple and shows how gorgeous this floral design is all on its own. I embossed “celebrate” from the Celebrations Duo found in the annual catalog.  (I could have used the Celebrate You Thinlits Die from the Sale-A-Bration catalog but I wanted to keep it all about embossing today.) *It is important to emboss celebrate first then the floral folder otherwise you would crush some of the flowers along the top with the embossing folder. (I bet you can guess how I learned that one!)  I thought the sentiment from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set was the perfect saying for this card and I love the way it curves with the embossed flowers.  This shows how quick & easy it is to achieve a clean & simple card to celebrate any occasion! I chose Pool Party and Night of Navy for my colors and added a bow with the Crinkled Seam Binding. The embossed layer measures 3 3/4 x 5 and the next layer is just 1/8 larger.

Card #2

Stampin Up Perennial Birthday Stamp Set and Petal Pair birthday or all occasion card idea using sponging technique - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

For this card I decided to add color to the embossed flowers using my sponge daubers and ink. I love how this is a completely different look even though the layout is the same! This was quick & easy to do and I love the soft Spring look.  It would  be a great card to give with a pot (or bouquet) of flowers to someone for any occasion. I have several friends and family members with March birthdays and this would be perfect for them.

Card #3

Stampin Up Perennial Birthday Stamp Set and Petal Pair birthday or all occasion card idea using Stampin Blends coloring technique - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I wanted to use my Stampin’ Blends for this last one.  (I should have started this post with “Welcome to Day 4 of my coloring therapy!” LOL ) I have to confess that this card did not work out the way I had envisioned but, I am pleased with the final result.  (Sometimes it’s just trial and error!) I opened the embossing folder and inked the back (the side without the Sizzix label) with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and put my paper on top.  Then I ran it through the Big Shot. The result was a big mess with ink where it shouldn’t be!

img_0954-2

Plan B to the rescue!  I redid the embossing then colored the flowers on the messy one with my Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut around the flowers with my paper snips.

img_0959-2

I love how the colors pop with the black outline.  I colored this a little different than I usually do with my Blends.  I only used one color instead of both the light and dark shades.  Then I went back with the Color Lifter to get the different shades.

I embossed the back flap on the envelope to tie in with the card. There is still so much more you can do with embossing folders!  Here’s another look at all 3 cards.  I would love for you to leave me a comment and let me know if you have a favorite.
