U is for Unique DSP (and you could win some blog candy!!!)

Welcome to the ABC’s with DSP!  Today I am making some Unique DSP.  You can find inspiration anywhere.  Today mine came as I was wrapping a gift and needed to make a card to go with it.  The paisley pattern on the wrapping paper reminded me of Stampin’ Up!’s  Paisley & Posies Stamp Set.  So I gathered my markers, stamp set, and cardstock and decided to make my own designer series paper to coordinate with the wrapping paper.

I started with an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock.  I randomly stamped 3 images from the Paisleys & Posies Stamp Set using Sweet Sugarplum ink. Next was the fun part…coloring! I used Pink Pirouette, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach, Pear Pizzazz, and Wild Wasabi markers to color on the cardstock. (The Wild Wasabi turned out to be darker when colored on the cardstock so I switched to using the Pear Pizzazz.)

Next I cut a piece of 5 1/2 x 3 1/4 piece from my unique DSP and layered it on a piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock that measures 5 1/2 x 3 1/2. I adhered this to my Whisper White card base. I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Blossoms with Sweet Sugarplum ink and cut it out using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I cut a scallop oval from Sweet Sugarplum to layer my sentiment.  Most of the cards I make seem to evolve as I create and this one was no exception.  I wish I could say I planned it that the flower would match up perfectly but, I was playing around with where to lay the sentiment and noticed how cool that worked out!  I attached the layered sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals then I used the Paisley Framelits to cut out a flower from my “unique” DSP.  I cut off the stem before attaching it with a glue dot.

I used more of my DSP to decorate my envelope to match.

P is for Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP

Welcome to the ABC’s with DSP!  This month I am featuring projects showcasing Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper. Today I am using the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper pack is found in the Holiday Catalog (page 47).  It has 12 sheets: 2 each of 5 double-sided designs; 1 each of 2 single-sided designs with copper foil. I chose a leaf design today to go with the changing leaves here in Maryland.

I really like the layout of this card design from Linda Heller. I am hoping to meet her in Atlanta when I attend the Stampin’ Up! Convention the beginning of November. She is so talented and very creative!  You can easily change the sentiment and DSP and use it for any occasion. I love the colors of fall.  For my card I used Cajun Craze and Delightful Dijon with Very Vanilla.  The Petals & Paisleys Designer Series Paper is cut at 3 1/4 x 3 1/2.  The Cajun Craze layer is just a smidge (1/8″) larger.  I stamped the sentiment on Very Vanilla with cajun craze ink and cut it out with the Layering Ovals Framelits. I cut the leaf from Delightful Dijon cardstock using the Paisley Framelits Dies.  I used the fine-tip glue pen to adhere it to a scrap of very vanilla and cut it out with my paper snips.  I attached the sentiment layer and the leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a candy dot to the leaf.
