Last week my friend Susan had to say goodbye to her special fur baby. Milo was truly a one of a kind dog. (He even won a trophy!)
Best Rescue Dog of the Year – Oxford Day 2023
Dog sitting for Milo is the reason we adopted our rescue dog and I can’t imagine my life without Bo. This past week has been difficult for my friend. I wanted to make a special card to honor her best buddy. (Do you see Milo in the garden? I used the retired stamp set, Hot Dog, to stamp and color “Milo”.)
This sentiment from Quiet Reflections is the reason I had to have this stamp set!
This set comes complete with multiple sentiments to share your love and support with someone in their time of need. It also features photo-realistic images of trees reflecting on water—such creative color possibilities!
I chose to use the Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper for this card because it reminds me of Milo’s home. He loved to play in the yard (when he wasn’t snuggled under his blanket), chase rabbits, and sniff the flowers.
I learned how to make this Bay Window View fun fold card from Terri Gaines. The left side folds back to open the card.
Here are the measurements:
Cardbase: 11″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 1, 2, 5-1/4″ & 8-1/2″
Decorative Inside Layer #1: 3″ x 5-1/4″
Decorative Inside Layer #1 Mat: 3-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
Decorative Inside Layer #2: 3″ x 5-1/4″
Decorative Inside Layer #2 Mat: 3-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
Decorative Inside Layer #3: 2-1/4″ x 5-1/4″
Decorative Inside Layer #3 Mat: 2-3/8″ x 5-3/8″
Decorative Outside Layer: 3″ x 5-1/4″

Milo had the best life with Susan and her family. He brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. He will be missed.
Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Stampers! It’s a long post today but well worth reading all the way through! Grab a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) and Read On!
Welcome to my ABC Color Series! Stampin’ Up! offers so many great color choices! I love to combine different colors and patterns and hope to inspire you with some fun color combinations throughout this series. Today’s project features Night of Navy. You will see from today’s showcase of cards, navy looks great with just about any color.
For today’s cards I used the Meandering Meadows 6 x 6 Designer Series Papers. This is an online exclusive product. If you don’t check out the online exclusives you are missing out on some great products because these items are not featured in any catalog! Here’s a look at this scenic paper pack.
Step into a dreamy meadow with the Meandering Meadows 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper! The thick brushstrokes, vivid colors, and bright light will transport you to an impressionistic scene that’s sure to add movement and composition to your handmade cards, scrapbooks, paper banners, and gift tags. Make the detailed, flowery fields into a central feature on your cards. Or use the dreamy, romantic clouds and abstract designs to add depth and texture to your scrapbooks. Each page’s vibrant pigments and bright coloring will easily add depth and beauty to your paper crafts.
This paper reminds me of a Monet Art Gallery. I thought an easel card was the perfect choice to highlight the gorgeous art. And what better sentiment than”You inspire me” from Crafting With You. I am so inspired by fellow stampers, my friends/team members, customers who order from me, as well as those of you who follow my blog. I love that I get to create and share with you. Let’s take a closer look at each of these cards and color combinations.
I used the leftover pieces of DSP to make coordinating envelopes.
Depending which type of easel card you make (and how you cut the DSP), you will have different size pieces left. Use what you have to add that extra special touch that makes someone want to tear open that envelope to see what’s inside. Decorate the envelope flap, add a strip across the front of the envelope or along the left side.
Here are the details to create these cards:
Measurements for Portrait Style Easel Card: :
Card base (Night of Navy): 4 1/4 x 11 scored @ 2 3/4 and 5 1/2
Cardstock Layer: 5 x 3 3/4
DSP (Meandering Meadows): 4 3/4 x 3 1/2
Basic White: 3 1/2 x 4 (inside), 8 1/2 x 11 to print palette template
*Use leftover scraps to stamp paintbrushes
Directions:
Fold & burnish card base using a bone folder
Adhere DSP to cardstock layer.
Adhere DSP layer to card base below the score line. Put adhesive on the bottom portion ONLY of the layered DSP (or add adhesive to the card base below the score line as shown below). You need adhesive to stay below the score line to allow your card to stand upright when opened. Here’s a view from the side and back of the card.
Adhere white cardstock inside card for stamped sentiment or handwritten message.
Stamp the sentiment and adhere using Stampin’ Dimensionals. (*See note below for art palette.) This provides the support for your card when it’s displayed. When the card is closed you wouldn’t know it was a special fun fold. I like that it’s a surprise.
Stamp paintbrushes with Memento Black Ink and cut out with Crafting With You Dies. Color with Stampin’ Write Markers or Stampin’ Blends. Snip the 2 paintbrushes on the end and slip through the art palette and adhere with a Mini Glue Dot or Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
Add Basic White cardstock inside the card for stamped sentiment or handwritten message.
Use leftover DSP scraps to decorate the envelope.
*Note- You can use any sentiment/die/punch to support your easel card. I really wanted an art palette for my sentiment and considered making my own template. (As a retired preschool teacher I did that all the time. LOL) A quick search and I found exactly what I wanted online! I printed the template on Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock and cut them out with my Paper Snips! I used a 1/4″ hole punch to punch the hole. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers (or Stampin’ Blends) to add color to the palette. I provided the link for the palette I used below.
Card base (Night of Navy): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored @ 2 1/8 and 4 1/4
Cardstock Layer: 3 3/4 x 5
DSP (Meandering Meadows): 3 1/2 x 4 3/4
Basic White: 2 x 5 1/4 (inside), 8 1/2 x 11 to print palette template
*Use leftover scraps to stamp paintbrushes
My daughter and I love to go to art museums and shows. We recently went to see the Monet Immersive Experience in New York. Here’s a few photos from the day.
Do you see how the Meandering Meadows DSP reminds me of Monet’s art?
