Stampin Up Number of Years Fun Fold Birthday Card Idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

tic tac toe

Today is Thursday which means it’s time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge!  This week’s challenge is as easy as ABC!

When I created this challenge board I had no idea what I was going to create.  I just picked an element for each letter A-I. Today’s card idea came together quick & easy as I started thinking about what I could create.  You know how I LOVE fun folds so I started with that and then thought what I could make that would be angled and that’s where I started…An angled double gate fold.

To make this fun fold start with a piece of designer series paper that is 5 1/2 x 12. Score on the 12″ side at 2, 4, 8,and 10.  Mark the center on each 5 1/2″ side at 2 3/4.  Then make diagonal cuts from the top of the DSP at the 4″ and 8″ score lines to the 2 3/4″ mark on each side.

This is what is should look like after you cut and fold on the score lines.

I used other elements from the challenge board to decorate my card.  My daughter just turned 20 so I used the Number of Years Stamp Set to mark the occasion. Using a circle die cut to stamp and heat emboss my greeting combined 4 elements from my board. I made  a belly from a 1 x 9 1/2 piece of whisper white cardstock which I wrapped around my card and adhered in the front.  I also adhered some coordinating Fresh Fig Ribbon with Tear & Tape then  I attached the layering circles to the belly band with Stampin Dimensionals.

The inside of my card offers some inspirational thoughts for my daughter’s milestone birthday.  I used the Fresh Fig Stampin’ Marker to write my message and added a bow using 1/2″Finely Woven Fresh Fig Ribbon. I love the way this card can display on a desk, bookcase, or mantle.

I used the same Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper to decorate the flap on the envelope.

P is for Peace on Earth with Pretty Pines and Paper Pumpkin

Welcome to my Holiday ABC series.  Today I am “shaking it up” for P! I used my Paper Pumpkin Pining for Plaid kit  (October 2017) with the Pretty Pines Thinlits and Carols of Christmas Bundle to make this “Peaceful” Christmas card . If you missed out on last month’s kit, don’t worry as you can still create this fun shaker card with products in the Stampin’ Up catalog. I like to make and share alternative ideas with my Paper Pumpkin subscribers and this card is just one example of how you can change it up a bit to make it your own.

My card base is from Paper Pumpkin; however, you can cut a piece of the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper for the front of your card. I love the Carols of Christmas Stamp Set and have used it a lot to create cards and boxes for the holidays. The Peace on Earth sentiment fit perfectly in the precut card front in the Paper Pumpkin kit.  I love how my Paper Pumpkin saves me time! You always have the choice of turning over the prestamped image and stamping your own sentiment on the back or cut a piece of 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 Whisper White to stamp an image or sentiment and another piece 4 x 5 1/4 to cut the circle using the Layering Circles Framelits. The window sheets, dimensionals, and sequins were included in the kit but you can order any of these items from my Stampin Up store. To assemble you attach the window sheet with glue dots to the back of the circle cut out.  Then add the dimensionals around the circle and fill with some sequins.  Remove the backing from the dimensionals and adhere the sentiment so it faces the front.

Then just add dimensionals to the top and bottom and adhere to the card base.

I added the pine branches from the Pretty Pines Thinlits and the trees and deer from the Card Front Builder Dies.  You can purchase the Card Front Builder Dies with the Carols of Christmas stamp set and save 10% on the bundle!

I love the matching envelopes in the Paper Pumpkin kit.  You can always cut the Merry Little Christmas DSP and add to the flap on the back of your envelope to tie it all together if you don’t have the kit.

I am so excited that the November Paper Pumpkin kit is designed to coordinate with the cards in October’s kit.  We’ve been told it is a “gifting project”.  I love having cards and gifts to match; however, you don’t have to have the card kit to make the projects in the November kit.  They can stand alone or be used together. If you want to get that handmade holiday touch without the fuss sign up by Friday, November 10th to get the November Paper Pumpkin kit.  Click HERE to sign up.

I is for Invitation

Welcome to my Holiday ABC series! I enjoy the holidays and today I am going to share with you one way I make my own invitations for different events.  My holiday cookie exchange has become an annual tradition. Here’s a fun invitation I made that could also be used for birthdays or other parties by simply changing the DSP and stamped image.

Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This is a simple fun fold card. The card base measures 4 1/4 x 11 and is scored at 1 1/4 and 5 1/2. Fold the card in half then fold the top flap down. I adhered a 3 3/4 x 4  piece of DSP (from Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper) to the front and wrapped the Quilted Christmas Ribbon around the card and tied a bow. You don’t need any adhesive to keep the card closed…the ribbon holds it together.  (You could staple the flap on each side if you want and hide it under the ribbon but it really isn’t necessary.) I stamped the gingerbread man from the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set in soft suede ink and punched him out with the coordinating Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I added a bow tie I punched from DSP and a candy cane I fussy cut from DSP.  I adhered it to Layering Circles with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I typed my invitation on the computer and printed it on Whisper White cardstock.  I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut it to 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 and adhered it to a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Old Olive Cardstock.  It’s easy to slide in and pull out to read.

Here’s a couple of photos from last year’s cookie exchange. Looking at these yummy cookies is getting me thinking about what I will bake this year!  Do you have a favorite cookie recipe?

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. The DSP used on my invitation is part of the special Stampin’ Up promotion going on now through the end of October.  Buy 3, Get 1 Free!

Today is my friend Susan’s birthday. We celebrated over the weekend with fellow demonstrators and team members. We call ourselves “Sisters of the Traveling Stamps”. We spent the weekend in Annapolis, Maryland at Ramsey’s and had so much fun sharing ideas (we each brought a shoebox swap), watching videos, learning new techniques, and stamping until the wee hours of the morning! Stampin’ Up! is so much more than just stamps and making cards…I love the friendships and spending time with “my people”.  Here’s a photo from our fun weekend!
