Look Who’s Turning 50!

Stampin Up Number of Years 50th birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Yesterday I shared a wine tag I made for Suzanne’s birthday celebration. This is the card I made for her. I used some of the same elements as the tag…gorgeous gold ribbon, Floral Affection Embossing Folder (my favorite), and the Large Numbers Framelits.   I used a stamp from the Number of Years stamp set to heat emboss the sentiment using VersaMark and gold embossing powder.

Here’s the card dimensions:

The whisper white card base is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The gold floral Designer Series Paper is from the Neutrals Collection and measures 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The embossed whisper white layer measures 4 1/4″ x 3″ and is matted with gold card stock measuring 4 3/8″ x 3 1/8″. I tied a knot in the ribbon and secured the ends on the back with Snail Adhesive. I added Stampin’  Dimensionals on the back before attaching it to the floral layer.

I chose the gold color scheme for this card based on her gift, a beautiful handmade “friend” bracelet. I used a sentiment from the Happy Happenings stamp set on the inside of the card.  It was perfect for Suzanne and her Girls Night Out limo ride!

I love making envelopes to match so I embossed the front with the Floral Affection embossing folder. (I used this embossing folder last week on a card and watercolored.  To see that card click HERE.)

Something to Wine About

Today is my friend Suzanne’s 50th birthday celebration with the girls. Everyone chipped in to rent a limo to take Suzanne and friends on a toast of the town to celebrate. Unfortunately I can’t go so I sent this bottle of champagne in my absence to help get the party started.

I love to make tags.  They are great for hostess gifts, holidays, or any occasion. Here’s how I made this one for Suzanne:

I started with some thick whisper white card stock and the largest banner from the Banners Framelits.  I ran it through the Big Shot and then embossed it with the Floral Affection Embossing Folder (I absolutely LOVE this embossing folder!)

I used the Triple Banner Punch to cut a 1 1/2″ x 7″ gold banner. I cut out the number 50 using the Large Numbers Framelits and gold card stock. I attached the numbers to the banner using Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise it up.  Next comes the magic.  I heat embossed the sentiment from the Celebrate Today stamp set using VersaMark, gold embossing powder, and the heat tool. I attached it to the banner with Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Next, I tied a bow around the bottle using the gold satin ribbon.  I love this ribbon! It so soft and elegant and easy to work with!  (I will admit I chose a bottle to match this beautiful ribbon.) I used glue dots to attach the tag to the ribbon.  The ribbon tag just slides over the bottle.  How easy is that?!

I really like how it turned out and I hope Suzanne has a birthday as special as she is!  I wish I could be there to celebrate with her; however, I’m not having a pity party. I am going to be spending some time abroad with my daughter before she goes off to college.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you to make some tags.  Check back tomorrow to see Suzanne’s birthday card.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Blooming Birthday

Today’s card features leftover designer series paper from the Fun Fold card that I made for C3 (our Creative Card Club) last week.  You can see that card HERE.

I love to challenge myself to use leftover paper to make something new.  After I cut all the cards for our card club I had several 1 1/2″ x 4″ strips of the Affectionately Yours DSP.  I adhered a piece to a layer of crumb cake card stock measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″.  I embossed the front using the Floral Affection Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.

I stamped the sentiment from the Flower Patch stamp set using Night of Navy ink. (Don’t forget to use a mat when stamping with photopolymer stamps to get a nice clean image.)

I think it looks nice just like this but I decided to watercolor the embossed flowers and leaves using Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder ink with the Aqua Painter.  Just squeeze your ink pads before you open to get ink to work with on the inside lid. (This way you are not diluting your ink pad.)  It was really easy and fun to paint the embossed areas with the Aqua Painter.

Next I wrapped linen thread at the top, tied a knot, and added a bow.  I added Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and attached it to the card base. Then I added pearls to the flowers.

Don’t forget the envelope!  I embossed and painted the envelope to match. I love the way this embossing folder makes a great space to address your envelope!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. Be sure to check back tomorrow for another Fun Fold Friday card! Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!
