X is for the Window BoX Thinlits

Welcome to my alphabet series showcasing some of the new products in the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs. Today I am showcasing the Window BoX Thinlits Dies featured on page 43 in the Occasions catalog. Move over Dragonfly Dreams…there’s a new favorite in town!!  I think you’ll agree once you see some of the possibilities that you can do with these dies…they are to “die” for!!

The Window Box Thinlits Dies make it easy to create these boxes using the Big Shot. Check out this video for some great tips and to see all the different ways to use the thinlits included in this set.

Donna shared lots of great ideas for boxes and cards in her video!  This set passed the versatility test for sure! I couldn’t stop making these boxes!   I have lots of photos to share with you today.

I love to make boxes and bags to coordinate with my cards. It makes a nice gift presentation. I made this box to go with a card I shared previously. You can find all the details for the card and how I made the tag insert (using the Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies) HERE.

I started with a 6 x 11 piece of cardstock to cut my 2 dies.  I cut the ends flaps off one of the pieces and put the box together as shown in the video. I used tear & tape to secure my box.  I marked on the photo below the 7 places where you need to apply adhesive.

For this box, I cut a  1 1/2 x 12″ strip of black DSP from the Neutrals Collection.  I started in the back and just wrapped it around and pressed gently along the corners to create natural score lines.  Then I used Multipurpose Glue to adhere it to the box. As you can see this box holds a lot!

How would you like to receive this card kit and box?  Check back tomorrow for information on my “Just Stampin’ Kit Buffet” TO GO!

This next box is for the principal at my school.  She loves pink! She has a bowl of Hershey kisses on her desk and my students love to stop by on our way out the door at 11:30 every day. They each choose a kiss from the bowl to take home.  I thought it would be nice to fill this box with pink Hershey Kisses and have my class give it to her tomorrow for her birthday.

I made this box the same starting with a piece of 6 x 11 Blushing Bride cardstock this time. I used the Precision Base Plate and cut the top of the box before adhering the box together. Then I cut a 3 3/4 x 4 piece of Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and trimmed it along the score lines using my paper snips. I  glued it on the inside of the lid.  I cut 1 1/2″ squares from the same DSP and adhered those on the 6 panels of the box. I attached a little piece of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon to the tab with a glue dot to make it easy to pull to open. The flowers were punched from Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride cardstock using the Petite Petals Bunch. I added Basic Pearl Jewels to the center of each.

I finished it off with a Very Vanilla bow on top.  Even the inside looks so pretty!

The next box is for my niece who is getting married in two weeks.  I used her colors to go with the card I made previously. (You can click HERE to see how I made the card.)

For this box I wanted to use the same elements as the card so I embossed the 2 die pieces using the Falling Petals Embossing Folder before I put the box together.  I rotated the bottom piece before embossing (just like you would for one of the dies) so the hearts would be facing the right way when I put the box together.

I heat embossed the sentiment using silver embossing powder and wrapped the box with the same silver ribbon as her card.

My last box (for now) is for our guest room.  I thought it would be so pretty to use it for a night light for guests.  I plan to make more of these as I think they are great little gifts to give! I used some retired Always Artichoke seam binding to wrap the box and tie a bow…it matched the throw pillow on the bed. You can still open the box without disturbing the ribbon to turn the battery light on and off.

I was careful to remember to make sure my die was going the right way before I cut so the hearts would be facing up when I put the box together but with the ribbon wrapped around it you can’t even tell! (Keep that trick in mind if you mess up! LOL)

I love these “luminaries” and can’t wait to make more!  These would be gorgeous on a dinner table! You can lay them down or stand them up..the candle fits either way. I still have more of these boxes I want to make. I haven’t even used the stamp set and it has great sentiments that fit perfectly on the top or side of the box! There’s even tags and a sweet little flower! They can be used with the box or alone on cards or other projects!  You will definitely  be seeing more of this set in the future!  I’m going to make Valentine boxes for my family! So, which one is your favorite?  I’d love to hear from you!

N is for Notes…Love Notes Framelits Dies

Welcome to my alphabet series showcasing some of the new products in the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs. Today I am showcasing the Love Notes Framelits Dies from the Sending Love Suite featured on pages 14 in the catalog. I made several projects today using these dies and photos.

img_8719

These photos are of my daughter’s cat, Storm.  Ariane rescued her and 4 of her brothers and sisters from a storm drain.  They were frostbitten and needed to be bottle fed. We found homes for the other 4 kittens but Storm and Ariane had bonded. For 6 years this cat slept with her, sat on her lap while she worked on her computer, and followed her around like a puppy dog.  Storm even waited outside the bathroom door while she showered!  I don’t know who misses my daughter more, the cat or me! I’m sending this card, picture frame, and thank you notes in her Valentine’s Day care package.

I love photography as much as I love stamping! This Valentine card and coordinating envelope were quick & easy to make using the Love Notes Framelits Dies and Sending Love Stamp Set.  I purchased this set as a bundle and saved 10%.

Look at all these dies…14 of them!  I love the mini envelope die!  You can even remove the little note from inside the envelope. How adorable! I wanted it to look like Storm was bringing the note to her.

img_8721

I cut the die from the Sending Love Glassine Sheets. The note was stamped on Blushing Bride cardstock with Sweet Sugarplum ink. The colors match Storm’s cute little nose and ears! I used glue dots to adhere the envelope.  I even stamped the back of the envelope and added a die cut heart.

img_8720

I purchased the cute little silver picture frame at the Dollar Store!  (I certainly didn’t break the bank on this gift!) I stamped the sentiment and then die cut the cluster of hearts from the set and attached it to the picture frame with 2 mini glue dots.  Easy does it!

img_8714

My daughter’s favorite color is purple and I was so excited when I found purple wrapped KitKat candy!  The perfect gift from her kitty!

I always make my daughter’s thank you cards and she sent out the last of her thank you notes after Christmas.  I used some more photos of her cat and made these thank you notes using the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes. You get 20 note cards & envelopes for $6.00…I think that’s the best deal in the catalog!  I use them all the time for thank you notes!  I printed the 2 x 3 photos at CVS.  I got 4 per sheet for just 35 cents!

img_8723

I used the Falling Petals Embossing Folder to emboss the front of the card.  I couldn’t decide which I liked better for the mini envelope… smoky slate or blushing bride. What do you think? I stamped the thanks from Suite Sentiments and wrapped the mini envelope with black baker’s twine.  I love these stinkin’ cute mini envelopes with removable notes! This card would be great for our cat sitter too!

L is for Love

Welcome to my alphabet series showcasing some of the new products in the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs. Stampin’ Up! has lots of new products for sending cards to loved ones for Valentine’s Day, anniversary, and wedding. The Occasions catalog is filled with so many ideas to inspire us! Today I am showcasing two cards I made using products from the Falling in Love Suite.

falling-in-love-suite

I love everything in this suite…the soft muted colors in the designer series paper, the lace doilies, jewel embellishments, and especially the Falling Petals Embossing Folder.  It can look like hearts or falling petals. The Lace Doilies are printed Very Vanilla on one side, white on the other. I love that versatility!  I was inspired by the anniversary card showcased on page 50 (and above) and couldn’t wait to make it in different colors.

Stampin Up So In Love Stamp Set and Sunshine Wishes Thinlits wedding card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

My niece is getting married next month and her wedding colors are navy, silver, and white. I used the Falling Petals Embossing Folder for the background on this card. I embossed the hearts on a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 Night of Navy cardstock and added the lace doily, vellum, and ribbon before adhering it to the card base. I embossed the sentiment from the So in Love Stamp Set with silver embossing powder and cut it out with the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  I used silver foil to cut the love from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. I cut a piece of 2 1/4 x 6 Night of Navy cardstock to emboss with the hearts to make a matching envelope.

My next card uses the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper for the background.

The card base is Sahara Sand. Next is a layer of Very Vanilla which  measures 5 3/8 x 4 1/8.  The designer series paper from Falling in Love measures 4 x 5 1/4. I cut a circle from the layering circles framelits to place behind the very vanilla doily.  It gives it a different look. I like the tone on tone to highlight the sentiment banner and heart.

I used the same sentiment from So in Love only this time I masked part of it so I would just have the word celebrate. I used the Bunch of Banner Framelits to cut out the sentiment and attached it with dimensionals.  I cut the heart from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits using silver foil and added the embellishment to tie in the silver and vanilla. I used the DSP to line the back of the envelope. I love the elegant look of this card.
