The inspiration for my card today came from the beautiful spring wreath my sister made me for my birthday.  We celebrated a little early this year and I couldn’t wait to hang it on my front door.

I love the way she personalized my wreath with the big monogrammed letter.  To recreate this beautiful wreath, I used the Large Letter Framelits to cut the letter S from Daffodil Delight cardstock. I stamped the wreath from Wondrous Wreath in Old Olive and then turned it slightly and stamped it again without reinking. I cut it out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. I punched flowers from Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight cardstock using the Tree Builder Punch and Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  I curled the flowers using the end of my stylus to give them some dimension. I added a little Pear Pizzazz ink to the center of the yellow flowers using my blender pen.  I used the Everyday Jar Framelits to cut some stems from Always Artichoke and Old Olive  cardstock to add some more greenery to my wreath.  I popped up the wreath and monogram with Stampin’ Dimensionals and attached the greenery and flowers with glue dots.img_0087

My sister has made me several wreaths before and every year a bird builds a nest in our wreath and lays eggs. This wreath came complete with a bird and eggs so perhaps we will get to use our front door this year.  I made my nest with linen thread and just wrapped it around my finger and attached it with glue dots.  The “eggs” are punched from the Tree Builder Punch.  I tucked the tips of the “leaves” into the nest so you just see the rounded end.  I used Melon Mambo Thick Bakers Twine and Old Olive Bakers Twine to make my bow and attached it with a glue dot.

My card base is a 4 1/4″ square from Sahara Sand cardstock.  I cut a 4″ square and scored it at 1/2″ on all four sides using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I like the way the scoring highlights and frames the wreath.  I used the Envelope Punch Board to make a matching custom envelope for my card. The Envelope Punch Board (133774) is one of my favorite tools and it’s a bargain for just $20! Not only is is so easy to use to make custom envelopes but it also makes great treat holders and other 3D items. Check out this video and see just how easy it is to use!

Another favorite of mine is embossing folders…they make it quick and easy to add depth and texture.  I used the Floral Affection Embossing Folder to add some texture and fun to the envelope flap.

A Jar Full of Thanks

Today I have a set of thank you cards to share with you (and one lucky winner).  I am back home after moving my daughter to college and as promised I will announce the winner of the Candy Jar Contest from last week. But first let’s get to today’s card.

Stampin Up Jar of Love Thank You card idea- Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used the Jar of Love stamp set and dies and the 2016-2018 In Colors to create a set of thank you cards.  *It was featured in an article on homemade thank you cards on gifts.com. You can view it HERE.

I love making sets of cards to give as gifts.  They are great for teachers (I know because I am a teacher and need a lot of thank you cards) as well as hostesses, friends, family… or contest winners!

I stamped the middle sized jar on a piece of whisper white cardstock with smoky slate ink. I stamped the leaves in emerald envy and 3 flowers for each card using dapper denim, flirty flamingo, peekaboo peach, and sweet sugarplum ink. I cut the flowers out using the Everyday Jars Framelits. I attached the flowers to the leaves with glue dots. Here’s photos showing the making of the card in Dapper Denim.

Next, I stamped the jar on another piece of whisper white and stamped the sentiment in the same color as the flowers.  I cut out the jar with the matching framelit and attached it on top of the other jar with dimensionals.  I adhered it to a layer of emerald envy cardstock and attached a matching bow with a glue dot.

I adhered the In Color Designer Series Paper to the card base and attached the jar layer with dimensionals. I love to make matching envelopes!

What’s your favorite In Color?

I have to ship these cards so I put them in a wide stamp case. I also added some chocolate kisses…it just seemed appropriate as it was a candy contest.  Check back tomorrow and I will share how to turn the stamp case in to a gift box as well as an alternative idea for a card box.

So, I bet you’re wondering how much candy was in the Jar of Love.  Here’s another look at the jar from last week.

The Jar of Love was for my daughter and before I gave it to her I counted the number of days she would be away until she comes home for Christmas.  She always kissed me goodnight so I put 91 (good night) kisses in the jar and 40 hugs (as needed) for a total of 131 pieces of candy.  And the winner is….Ramsey!  Congratulations Ramsey!  You were the closest at 126!  Email me (j.stark@myactv.net) your address and I will send this box of cards and candy to you.  I so appreciate everyone who played along and all the comments on my blog.

Here’s a couple of pictures of my daughter’s dorm room after we moved her in.  Do you recognize anything in the photos?

Have a wonderful day!
