CASE the Catty for the PALS Blog Hop

2017badge-denim

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for February 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are CASE’ing (Copy And Share with Everyone) a project shown in a current Stampin’ Up! catalog. After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration from which to choose. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I  CASE’d the box found on page 40 in the Occasions catalog which uses the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders and Happy Celebrations Stamp Set. I had someone ask about this box after I featured some cards I made using this set (H is for Happy Celebrations). I had no idea how this box was made so I called Stampin’ Up! We have the most awesome demonstrator support team!  I owe a big thanks to Ben who reached out to the designer and emailed me a photo with dimensions. I was able to take it from there to make these boxes to share with you today. Here’s the photos Ben sent me.

I have a few tips and lots of photos to share with you.  I always look for ways to cut my paper to get the most from each piece and this project uses just 1 sheet of cardstock to make each box.  First I cut my cardstock at 6 1/4 x 11.  I like to save steps so before I cut again, I scored this piece with the short end across the top at 1 1/4 on each end.

Next, I rotated my cardstock and cut 4 pieces at 2 1/4 x 6 1/4.  I used the strip that was left from my initial cut (2 1/4 x 11) and cut it at 2 1/4 x 6 1/4 so I had 5 pieces. (The last piece needed to be scored at 1 1/4 on each end like the others.) Then I scored all 5 pieces at 1/2″.

I cut the ends off the 1/2″ pieces and notched the middle piece on each. I stamped 4 pieces using the Happy stamp from Happy Celebrations using Pacific Point ink for a tone on tone look. *Make sure you stamp 2 pieces with the flap at the bottom and 2 pieces with the flap at the top so the words will be facing the right way when you assemble the box.

Next step is to emboss.  *I used washi tape so my emobssing folder wouldn’t move from where I placed it over the stamped letters. I used Tear & Tape to adhere the pieces together.

Overlap the flaps to close the box then adhere the top of the box together. I added some silver ribbon and attached the stamped the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s the box featured in the catalog along with mine.

I couldn’t stop with just one box when there’s 2 embossing folders in the pack! I changed it up for the Celebrate box.

For the Happy box I stamped first then embossed. For this box I embossed the panels first then stamped. I love this look and it was quick & easy to do.  I just embossed 2 of the panels and used designer series paper on 2 of the panels. The DSP is from the Regals Paper Stack and measures 3 3/4 x 1 3/4. The colors I used to stamp over the debossed impression are Smoky Slate, Pool Party, and Night of Navy.  I created a banner with a 1″ strip of Pool Party cardstock and punched it with the Triple Banner Punch.  The heart is from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits.  The sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes is stamped in Night of Navy ink.  I attached the banner to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added Whisper White Mini Pompom Trim along with some silver ribbon and Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I hope you liked today’s project.  Subscribe to my blog for more card and gift giving inspiration. Come back after you finish the hop and check out this video from Stampin’ Up! to see some of the different ways to combine these stamps to make cards for so many different occasions.

I made this fun fold flap card using a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 night of navy cardstock for the base.  I cut another strip of night of navy 1 3/4 x 4 3/4 and scored it at 4″.  I folded the flap over the 4 x 5 1/4 piece of designer series paper from Affectionately Yours then adhered it to the card base.  I cut 2 pieces of crumb cake 2 1/4 x 4 and embossed 1 using the Floral Affection Embossing Folder.  I layered each piece of crumb cake on 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 night of navy cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes in night of navy ink.  I stamped the flowers from Love & Affection on crumb cake cardstock using night of navy ink.  I cut these out with paper snips and adhered to the embossed layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some Rhinestone Jewels then adhered the layered piece on the flap using more Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The inside sentiment and flowers are from Love & Affection and stamped in night of navy. I used fast fuse to adhere the layer to the card base.  I opened the flap and placed the sentiment layer over the back of the embossed layer so when I closed the card it would be perfectly centered under the layer.

I added the same Designer Series Paper to my envelope along with a 1/4″ strip of night of navy to tie it all together. This would be a great card to send to anyone to bring a smile to their face. Who would you send this card to?
