Happy Birthday with Designer Tin of Cards

November is filled with birthdays in my family and circle of friends…my brother, sister, daughter, husband, and 3 friends all have November birthdays. I’ve been making lots of birthday cards!   My husband’s birthday was earlier this week and my daughter requested a card for her to give him. I used the Designer Tin of Cards kit to make this alternative card using the contents in the kit.

Alternative card using Stampin’ Up! Designer Tin of Cards Kit

This is a well traveled card as it made the trip to Atlanta (so my daughter could sign it) then back home again to be hand delivered with it’s matching gift bag.  Here’s a little secret…I love to recycle and dress up gift bags I receive.  (I’ve been doing this for years and I especially love to change it up and regift it back to the person that gave it to me and see if they notice.  LOL)  Everyone received a goodie bag at World Card Making Day with our make and take projects.  It was a plain kraft bag and I knew immediately this bag was going to have several lives! (Thank you Brian & Pam!)  I love this quick & simple way to dress up a bag.

Gift bag made with Stampin’ Up! Moroccan Designer Series Paper

I took a 2 inch strip of Designer Series Paper and cut it to the width of the bag.  I layered it with some coordinating cardstock and just adhered the ends to the bag with Fast Fuse. This leaves the center open to slide in your card. Quick & easy! I believe this bag idea came from Stamping School years ago. I have learned so much from its creator, Linda Heller.  I was so excited to meet her in Atlanta and just had to have my picture taken with this amazing woman (hoping some of her talent would rub off on me)! She was one of the many awesome presenters at WCMD.

Check back tomorrow to see more alternative card ideas using the Designer Tin of Cards as well as photos from my recent class. Don’t forget several stamp sets are on sale this month for 25% off!  WooHoo! Click HERE to Shop & Save.

Have a wonderful day!

P.S.  The bag has already been recycled again! It was given away today to a customer who ordered the Stitched with Cheer Project kits.  Three of them fit perfectly in the bag and I made a simple thank you card to slide in the front. (Wish I took a picture before I gave it away.)

A is for Affectionately Yours DSP

Welcome to my new alphabet series…The ABC’s with DSP!  This month I will feature projects showcasing Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper. The Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper has colorful floral designs including copper foil.

I made this fun fold flap card using a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 night of navy cardstock for the base.  I cut another strip of night of navy 1 3/4 x 4 3/4 and scored it at 4″.  I folded the flap over the 4 x 5 1/4 piece of designer series paper from Affectionately Yours then adhered it to the card base.  I cut 2 pieces of crumb cake 2 1/4 x 4 and embossed 1 using the Floral Affection Embossing Folder.  I layered each piece of crumb cake on 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 night of navy cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes in night of navy ink.  I stamped the flowers from Love & Affection on crumb cake cardstock using night of navy ink.  I cut these out with paper snips and adhered to the embossed layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some Rhinestone Jewels then adhered the layered piece on the flap using more Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The inside sentiment and flowers are from Love & Affection and stamped in night of navy. I used fast fuse to adhere the layer to the card base.  I opened the flap and placed the sentiment layer over the back of the embossed layer so when I closed the card it would be perfectly centered under the layer.

I added the same Designer Series Paper to my envelope along with a 1/4″ strip of night of navy to tie it all together. This would be a great card to send to anyone to bring a smile to their face. Who would you send this card to?

There are 2 great items to get if you don’t have them already.  One is the Designer Tin Of Cards Project Kit Item #141651.   It’s normally 27.00 and is on sale for only $20.25!
I plan on getting some for gifts and stamping them myself – who wouldn’t love to have pretty cards and envelopes in a cute tin, all ready to send out?   I gave a set to my mom last year for Mother’s Day and included postage stamps in there to make it even easier for her to send.

It includes all you see above including the cute tin. You will need to supply inks and stamps of your choice or get the  Designer Tin of Cards Stamp Set.  The coordinating ink colors are: Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Dapper Denim or Night of Navy,  Emerald Envy.  Mint Macaron works well also.

I know many of you already have the Envelope Punch Board but if you are a new stamper, it’s a tool that I recommend for creating all your own envelopes in any size!  It’s on sale from $20 to only $15! (If you search envelope punch board on my blog you will see different projects I have made with it besides just envelopes.)

Here’s a video from Stampin’ Up! showing how the punch board works.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s more…
