Impossible Fun Fold Card Tutorial

Yesterday I shared a fun fold card called the “Impossible Card Fold”.  I’m here to show you it’s anything but impossible! It’s super simple and fun to make. Here’s another look at my card.

Stampin Up Free As a Bird Fun Fold All Occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Here’s the details how to make it…

  1. 1.Start with a piece of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card stock.
  2. With the 4 1/4″ side at the top of the score board, score at 2 1/8.

2. With the 5 1/2″ side at the top, score at 2 3/4″ just to the score line across the middle.

3.  Flip so the other 5 1/2″ side is at the top and score at 1″ and 4 1/2″ just to the middle score line.

4. Cut along the score lines on the 5 1/2″ side from the top to the middle score line and from the bottom to the middle score line. (*Don’t cut the middle score line.)

5. Now comes the fun part! Hold one side (I held the left side) and flip the other side back and then fold the center piece forward. It’s that simple!!!!!

To decorate, I cut 2 pieces of DSP 2 x 2 5/8 and 2 pieces 7/8 x 2. The stamped banner piece measures 3/4 x 4 1/4 and the layer measures 7/8 x 4 1/4. I put both banner pieces together and slid them in the top of the Everyday Label Punch. *Make sure it’s centered before punching. Offset the top layer before adhering.  Stamp sentiment and punch a hole with the 1/8 ” Handheld Circle Punch. (A shout out to Linda Heller for this cool punch trick!!!)

Take a 6″ piece of ribbon and fold in half.  Thread through the hole then slip the ends through the loop. Adhere across the front of the card.  Trim ends of the ribbon.

I fussy cut the flower from a scrap of DSP and adhered with a glue dot. I stamped the birds on Whisper White with Soft Suede ink and let dry before coloring with my Stampin’ Blends. I cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies and adhered to the card. This card folds flat and fits in Stampin’ Up!’s standard medium envelopes. I decorated the envelope flap with the same beautiful Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

I hope you will give this fun fold a try now that you see it’s NOT “Impossible” at all!!!!

Stampin’ News…April 2019

Stampin’ Up! released some important news today. Grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and read all about it!  There’s a lot to absorb!

Retiring Product Lists Coming Soon

On April 15th at 1:00 pm the retirement list for the occasions and annual catalogs will be posted on the website.. These last-chance products will be available until June 3 or while supplies last only, so get your favorite items before they’re gone! We know that 2017-2019 In Colors are retiring for sure. In the past these items have sold out fast so if you need cardstock or ink refills for these In Colors get them now before it’s too late!2017-2019 In Colors Click HERE to shop retiring In Colors

Stampin’ Trimmer Discontinuation

If you have the Stampin’ Trimmer, you will want to grab replacement blades right away. Because of on-going issues with the manufacturer, the trimmer, replacement blades and mats, will be discontinued. Right now you can order 3 sets of replacement blades per order. Starting April 15th, this number will increase to 6. Over the next few months, there will be small batches of inventory arriving and it’s anticipated to be depleted rapidly. Click on the images below to get them while you can!

Die-Cutting and Embossing Product Line Changes

Stampin’ Up! is changing its die cutting and dry embossing lines. The new dies and folders will continue to work with the die-cutting machine we currently carry but in the 2019-20 catalog there will not be a die-cutting machine. I expect that one will be announced at some point during the year. After extensive research,
demonstrator feedback, and evaluation, Stampin’ Up! decided to move in a new direction and set the foundation for a greater die-cutting and embossing opportunity. One of the significant factors in this decision is that instead of working with a supplier who works with a manufacturer, they are moving to a direct-to-manufacturer relationship. This means that we will work directly with the factories who manufacture our dies and folders instead of working with another company who then works with different factories. This gives us greater control and potential in the manufacturing process.

Upcoming Pricing Changes

The new annual catalog will debut in June and I want you to be aware of upcoming pricing changes.  While these increases are minimal and are mainly cardstock and envelopes, I want you to have the option to purchase these products now before the price increase. Click HERE for a complete list of individual product price increases in the upcoming 2019–2020 annual catalog.

Oops! Card and Blog Candy Winner

Yesterday I shared a spring wreath birthday card I made using the Stamparatus.  If you missed that post, you can see it HERE.  I love the Stamparatus for many reasons, one of which is I get a “do over” if I don’t get a good image the first time I stamp.  It’s so easy to just reink and stamp again…it stamps in the exact spot making it look great every time! Here’s a video showcasing the Stamparatus if you want to see it in action.

So, what do you do if you get too much ink? I’m sure we’ve all experienced inky fingers getting on our project after it was finished! I prefer not to start over again so I try to turn my “boo boos” in to new creations.  Let’s face it, the recipient had no idea what my first attempt was supposed to look like (right?). Most times I just add an embellishment to cover it up (which is why I’m in love with the new Butterfly Duet Punch and Bitty Blooms Punch Pack).  Unfortunately, that wouldn’t work with this particular oops! Look what happened when I stamped the sentiment (after I had stamped my pretty spring wreath).

Stampin' Up! wreath builder template - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I hate it when ink gets on the rim of the stamp and transfers to the paper! I did not want to toss my pretty wreath! So a quick fix was to stamp the sentiment again on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, punch it out with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch and cut a navy layer with the Layering Circles Framelits.  Just adhere on top and mission accomplished!

Stampin Up Perennial Birthday and Accented Blooms wreath - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I like to challenge myself to find a way to “make it work” before tossing it in the trash and starting over. My friend Susan gave me a Tombow sand eraser and it helps to fix little smudges.

You can purchase these from Amazon. If you have a stamping fix story or idea, I’d love for you to share.  Email me (j.stark@myactv.net) or leave a comment below.

I can’t decide which card I like better. Do you have a preference?
