I appreciate each and every order! Here are some of the things you can expect when you place an online order with me in April:

A is for Adhesives

Welcome to my ABC’s of Stampin’ series! Each day I will focus on some of the basics of stamping and share some tips, tutorials, and exclusive Back to School Specials as I share cards and projects. Let’s start Stampin’ our way through the alphabet!

It helps to start at the beginning and let’s face it, you need Adhesive if you’re going to make cards or 3D projects.  It’s always helpful (no matter what you are making) to have the right tools; and adhesives are no different. Stampin’ Up! offers a great selection of adhesives so you can make the right choice for whatever project you are making.

I certainly have my favorites when it comes to adhesives and one of them is the Fast Fuse. I will be the first to admit there is a learning curve when it comes to using it… mainly because you hold and release it a little differently than the Snail Adhesive. Once you get the hang of it you will love it! Check out this short video Stampin’ Up! created with lots of helpful tips on how to use the Fast Fuse Adhesive .

Both the Snail and Fast Fuse Adhesive are refillable which is a great cost saver.  At first you may think the Fast Fuse is more expensive but, if you look at how much you get in the refill (21.9 yards) you will see that the cost per yard is the same as the Snail.  And I like that I don’t have to refill it as often. If you create where there is high humidity, you want to use the Fast Fuse because it has a nice strong hold to keep your cards from coming apart. I use Snail Adhesive when adhering Designer Series Paper because it is not as thick as our cardstock. When layering cards, I find it helpful to use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue (aka green glue) because it allows time to play with it to make sure it is just right before it dries. I keep my adhesives, etc. in a kitchen tools carousel and you can see I store my Multipurpose glue upside down so it is always ready to go.  Just remember, a little goes a long way.img_4032

If you happen to use too much glue you can remove it easily with the Adhesive Remover. It works just like an eraser.

When adhering thin dies to your card it is best to use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  It is also perfect for adhering sequins or glitter. Here is another quick video with tips for using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

Another favorite adhesive that I use on almost every card I make is Stampin’ Dimensionals. They add depth and dimension with just that little pop up.

I used several different adhesives to create this simple card below. (I like to think of this card as a “formula”. You can substitute any 2 x 5 1/2 piece of Designer Series Paper with some matching cardstock and ribbon.  Add a sentiment and you’re good to go.)

I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the hello from Hello You Thinlits. I popped up the middle section with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used Mini Glue Dots to attach my ribbon bow. (I like to use my paper piercing tool to pick up the glue dots.)  I used the Snail Adhesive to attach the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper to my envelope and whisper white cardstock layer.

Stampin Up Clean & Simple card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

One of my other favorite adhesives is Tear & Tape. It is perfect for boxes and 3D projects. If you have been following my blog you have seen several projects where I have used this (card box, post-it note and business card holders, treat holder). You can view any of these projects by typing the key word in the SEARCH button or just scroll the categories on the right and click 3D items.

Lastly, if you want to make a shaker card, you need the Foam Adhesive Strips for that. Stampin’ Up! created this video to show you how to make a shaker card. They are really fun! (Check out all the samples she shares!!!)

Click HERE to see the adhesives and shop online 24/7. As a special thank you for purchasing from me today, I am offering a Back to School Special…I will send you a pack of Stampin’ Dimensionals with your purchase of $30 (or more) OR you can receive a FREE Fast Fuse Adhesive with your purchase of $75 or more (before tax and shipping). Be sure to enter the Hostess Code VS23B4FP when you check out. (Note- the free gift will come directly from me and will not be shipped with your order.)

I hope you found this information helpful. I would love to hear from you.  Do you have a favorite adhesive?

Check back tomorrow for more ABC’s of Stampin’ and Back to School Specials. Tomorrow my Pre-K students come to school!  Here’s a couple photos of my classroom all set up and ready for them to arrive.
