Embossing with The Eyelet Blooms Die for Tic Tac Toe #292

It’s time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge!
Here’s this week’s inspiration board.

This week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge inspired me to try a new technique. I used the Eyelet Blooms Die to emboss my background. Here is the secret to this technique—Stampin’ Up!’s New Impression Plate.

Use the Impressions Plate with Impressions Dies for best cutting and embossing results. Adding this plate to your sandwich results in precise die-cut images and detailed embossing. *Directions for both embossing and die cutting are included with the Impressions Plate.

Adding the Impressions Plate to your “sandwich” before running it through your Die Cutting/Embossing Machine will take it from cutting through your paper to simply embossing it. Super simple, right? Here’s the order you’ll want to make your sandwich:

  • Base Plate #1 on the bottom
  • Clear Plate #2
  • Die  *Tip: Place the die with the cutting edge up
  • Cardstock (on top of die)
  • Impressions Plate
  • Plate #4 (Gray – used for 3D embossing) on top

It is so cool how it looks like it is quilted!

Today’s card is another one of my “go to” designs from my Just Stampin’ Sketchbook. You can create it with any embossing folder, patterned paper, circle punch (or die), stamped sentiment, and ribbon. I used the 2 3/8 Circle Punch with the Bloom Boutique Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Barely Blush cardstock & ribbon (one of the NEW 2026-20228 In Colors).Stampin' Up! Two Quick & Easy Card Techniques with Two-Tone Cardstock!

You can make a stunning card quick & easy using Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Cardstock and Black Ink!

I love a monochromatic card. This simple fun fold showcases both the light and dark side of the two-tone cardstock.

The cardstock base measures 5 1/2″ x 12″ and is scored at 3″, 6 1/2″, and 10 1/2″.
Fold and burnish the score lines folding back and forth (mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold). The image from Gallery Blooms is stamped in black ink and cut out with the coordinating die. I tied a bow and adhered it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. The sentiment from Spotlight on Nature is cut out with a die from Unbounded Love and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The two-tone cardstock has a white core which creates a unique look using the tearing technique.

I folded the last score line in on the right side. I tore this piece along the edge to expose the white core (and beautiful texture) then adhered the piece to the inside of the card. The inside image is also from Gallery Blooms and the sentiment is from You Are Remarkable. It stands nicely for display.

I added a panel on the inside for a handwritten message using one of the dies from Textured Notes.

I really like to emboss two-tone cardstock. It’s quick & easy! I love how the embossing & sanding technique I used on the card below adds so much texture!

I used Calypso Coral Two-Tone Cardstock on the front of my card. I embossed it with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder then used my blending brush to add some Pecan Pie ink to the flower centers. After that I used a sanding block and gently rubbed over the front of the cardstock to expose the core. I don’t think my photo does this card justice as it really pops and is just bursting with texture!

There are so many different techniques you can do with two-tone cardstock. I am just getting started! I love to experiment and try new things. Do you have a favorite card/technique from today? I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below!

Here’s how I did the Spritzing Technique…
Supplies: Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder, Ink, Blending Brushes, Sponge Daubers, Stampin’ Spritzer, Vellum (or cardstock), Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine
Spritzing Technique with Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
1. Use a Blending Brush to apply Boho Blue ink to the butterfly on the raised part of the embossing folder (the side that has the Stampin’ Up! Logo on the front).
2.  Use sponge daubers to add Melon Mambo and Garden Green ink.
3. Lay the butterfly die in the embossing folder with the cutting edge up. *You will feel it “lock” in place.
4. Spray a couple squirts of water with the Stampin’ Spritzer.
5. Lay the vellum (or cardstock) on top, close the folder, and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. It will blend the inks, cut, & emboss at the same time!

6. Allow to dry then add die cut butterfly layer.

I created another butterfly using this technique with cardstock and different colors.
