Making A CASE with Ginkgo Branch

Have you browsed through the new Mini Catalog? It is filled with fun new products and so many great ideas! I needed to make several sympathy cards and when I saw this beautiful card idea (on page 57) in the new Mini Catalog I decided to CASE it. CASE simply means to Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit.
Stampin' Up! Ginkgo Branch slimline sympathy card idea- Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I selectively edited a few things! Here’s the details for this slimline card:

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock – 7 x 8 1/2, scored at 3 1/2 for card base
  • Very Vanilla – 3 3/8 x 8 3/8 heat embossed using background stamp and clear embossing powder, scrap to stamp sentiment and cut with Stylish Shapes Die
  • Shimmery White Cardstock – die cut Ginkgo Branch flower dies (2 large, 3 small)
  • Polished Pink cardstock – die cut circle with Stylish Shapes Die
  • Simply Elegant Trim – ~18 in.

The sample card in the catalog used the Chic Dies to add a textured layer behind the flowers.  Instead, I used a retired stamp (En Francais), stamped it with VersaMark, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I love the subtle texture it adds in the background.

It’s been awhile since I watercolored and I love the new Water Painters! I used Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, Polished Pink, Melon Mambo, and Pear Pizzazz to color the flowers.  *Note- you do not want to pick up ink directly from the Stampin’ Pads. Just add a few drops of ink refills inside the lids of the Stamping’ Pads for a pallet to use with the water painters.

The Ginkgo Branch Bundle caught my eye right away in the new catalog! It is so different from other flower stamps and dies I have and can be used for many different occasions.

A Special Fold Slimline Card for Andrew’s Birthday

My son’s birthday was a couple of weeks ago. We waited until he visited this weekend to celebrate a belated Easter and birthday together! I find it harder to buy for my son the older he gets! (I also find it hard to believe that I have a 35 year old son!!!! LOL) He lives in Rhode Island and even though our recent move made the drive easier and a bit closer; the tolls add up fast! So this year we decided to gift him with an E-ZPass (hoping he will come visit more often). I love to make my cards coordinate with the gift so I pulled out some retired Designer Series Paper (World of Good) for his card.
Stampin' Up! Happiest of Birthdays masculine slimline card with World Of Good Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I love this simple layout for a masculine card! I created a slimline card with a pocket so I could fit the E-ZPass application inside. (You can do the application process online if you have the vehicle registration information but I wanted to enclose his “gift” inside the card.) *This slimline pocket card works great if you want to enclose a check, cash, or “coupon”  inside. (We sometimes make our own coupon gifts, “Good For….”.)  This card design makes it easy to change up the DSP for a feminine card, wedding card, etc.
Stampin' Up! Balloon Adventures slimline masculine card with inside pocket holder for cash or check - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The inside sentiment is from one of my favorite retired stamp sets, Balloon Adventures. It was the perfect choice to go with this “travel” gift set. I like to change it up and add a little more interest by stamping on DSP when possible. I cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
Here’s the details to make this card:

PROJECT MEASUREMENTS:

  • Card Base – Basic Black: 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 3 1/2 and 7
  • Designer Series Paper – Front of Card: 3 1/4 x 5 1/8, cut 2 @ 3 x 1 5/8
  • Designer Series Paper – Inside card: 1/2 x 8 1/2 (pocket), 3 x 4 1/2 (sentiment)
  • Designer Series Paper – Envelope: cut 3 @ 1 x 3 1/2

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Fold and burnish card base. Staple inside pocket on ends. Cover staples with DSP strip.
  2. Stamp sentiment on DSP. Adhere the 3 DSP pieces to front of card. *I added a special touch using Black Matte Dots to the map DSP to show the travel route from state to state.
  3. Stamp sentiment on DSP, cut with Stitched Rectangle Die, adhere inside card.
  4. Adhere DSP strips to the front of the envelope.

Happiest of Birthdays for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is Birthday Bash. We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, we would appreciate your comments because we enjoy hearing from you. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.Stampin' Up! Every Chapter Slimline Birthday Card idea with Pattern party Designer Series paper - jeanie Stark StampinUp
You may be wondering why I’m showcasing the Every Chapter Stamp Set for a Birthday Bash. Well, not only do I happen to love this stamp set, it is perfect for a friend’s birthday card, especially when gifting a book (or in today’s case, an awesome Blooming Books shaped puzzle).
Stampin' Up! Every Chapter Slimline Birthday Card idea with Pattern party Designer Series paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I love to coordinate my cards and gifts! When I saw the Every Chapter stamp set in the Mini Catalog, I knew it was perfect for my book club friends and others who enjoy reading books as much as I do. I sent my friend her card and gift a “little-bit-late”. I used a combination of Positive Thoughts and the Happiest of Birthdays stamp sets on the inside of my card.

The Happiest of Birthdays has the best birthday sentiments! I love the different fonts!!

Today’s card is a slimline card.  It costs the same to mail this size card and Stampin’ Up! has added slimline envelopes to their collection. Yea!!!!

These Slimline Envelopes are designed to be the perfect fit for your tall, slender greeting cards. They come in a pack of 15, 5 each of 3 colors: Smoky Slate, Soft Succulent, white.

I chose the colors for today’s card from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. Stampin' Up! Pattern arty Designer Series Paper - get a free sample with a qualifying order at juststampin.com - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Polka dots, flowers, stripes, and more. Whatever type of pattern you need, you’ll find it in the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. You can use these pattern staples in any season, for any occasion. This is available with your Stampin’ Rewards when you host or purchase a qualifying order.  *During Sale-A-Bration (now through February 28th) you can earn even more FREE gifts with your order!

The floral pattern was a clear choice for today’s card to go with the “blooming books” puzzle. I colored the books with Stampin’ Blends to coordinate with colors in the patterned paper.

Here’s the details:

  • Card Base (Flirty Flamingo): 8 1/2 x 7 1/2 scored at 3 3/4 (for a 3 3/4 x 8 1/2 card)
  • Basic White: Cut 2 @ 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 to stamp books, 3 1/2 x 8 1/4 (inside)
  • Designer Series Paper: cut 4 @ 3 1/2 x 1 3/4
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock: cut 4 @ 1/4 x 3 1/2

I decided to step up this card by stamping the book image twice and fussy cut. I adhered the bottom 3 books with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it some depth. I also added a piece of ribbon for the bookmark and some Basic Rhinestone Jewels on the glasses.
Stampin' Up! Every Chapter Slimline Birthday Card idea with Pattern party Designer Series paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I stamped the image in Versamark and heat embossed with Black Embossing powder.  It smeared a little bit but I think it gives it a “worn” book effect like a well loved novel. (*You should stamp in Memento Ink when coloring with Stampin’ Blends.)
