I is for Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack

Welcome to my ABC “Sale-A-Bration” Series! This series showcases products from the 2018 Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochures. Today I’m sharing a bundle from the Occasions catalog that includes the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. I love punches and this adorable punch pack coordinates with the Fruit Basket Stamp Set. Here’s a look at the bundle.

I love fresh fruit!  We have several orchards nearby where you can pick your own apples in the fall as well as blueberries and strawberries in the spring. We also have a Peach Festival and other “fruit” events in the area so I knew I would get a lot of use out of this bundle. I found some smoothie mixes at the grocery store the other day and picked up a few for my my family and to give as little gifts. I made some fun “envelope cards” to hold the smoothie mixes.

It’s so easy to make any size envelope using the Envelope Punch Board!  All the directions are right on the board (for 66 different sizes) so you never have to worry about what size paper you need or where to punch and score. I started by measuring my smoothie mix package which measured 4 1/2 x 6.  I checked the EPB (Envelope Punch Board) to see what size paper I needed (8 1/2 x 8 1/2) and where to start to punch & score (3 3/4).

After I punched and scored all sides I was ready to embellish. The Tutti-frutti 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper was perfect to go with my fruit smoothies. It is so easy to pick my cardstock colors from the DSP. I adhered my DSP to a layer of cardstock then popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the front of the envelope card. I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits and Layering Ovals Framelits for the sentiment layers. I stamped the sentiment close to the bottom to leave room for my ribbon in the middle.  I stamped the fruit twice, once in each color, then punched them out with the Itty Bitty Fruit Punches. I wanted the add the leaf layer on top with a Glue Dot to give it a little dimension. I wrapped the ribbon around the envelope and tied a bow.  The ribbon keeps the envelope closed and just slides off to open. I added a stamped layer on the inside which is a hidden surprise under the smoothie mix.

This is a fun card to make even if you don’t have a drink mix to add.  I stamped and cut the sentiment “treat yourself” from the Picture Perfect Birthday set and attached that to the drink mix for an added touch.

My son has a birthday soon and he loves fresh pineapples. The smoothie mix calls for fresh fruit, water, and ice so I thought I would include a pineapple to go with it.  The tag was attached to the pineapple so rather than cut it off I made a tag to coordinate and adhered it on top.

I love making little gifts like this! The pineapple and card would be a nice welcome gift for a new neighbor or even a treat for Easter. Simply change the sentiment and you are good to go for any occasion.

My daughter will be home for spring break soon and she loves strawberry smoothies! This little treat will be waiting for her.

The strawberries were fun to stamp and punch. I used both Garden Green and Lemon Lime Twist ink for the stems. I love this gingham ribbon.  It is easy to work with and really makes the card pop! Here’a a photo showing the back of the envelope card.  You can see how the ribbon keeps the envelope closed.

This sentiment is perfect for my daughter! This set would also make a great hostess gift, thank you, or just a special treat for a friend or coworker. Who wouldn’t enjoy fresh strawberries and a handmade card?!

I have one more treat to share with you today.  My sister recently moved to Virginia and she is going to visit this weekend.  My family refers to our home as the local Bed & Breakfast. (My husband is a great cook!) I always like to leave little pillow gifts for overnight guests so while I was punching strawberries I made this quick Ghirardelli treat holder for my sister.

You can whip this treat holder in no time at all!  Start with a piece of 4 x 4 designer series paper. Use the Envelope Punch Board to punch and score at 2 inches on each side. Put your candy inside and tie close with ribbon and twine.  I used my circle punches to punch the layers for the sentiment and attached it to the ribbon with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Quick & easy!

I hope you like today’s projects. For more Envelope Punch Board ideas and a video click HERE.  Check out this video showcasing the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and the Fruit Basket Bundle I used in today’s projects.

So which do you prefer: Ghirardelli chocolate, strawberry smoothie, or pineapple smoothie? I would love to hear from you! FYI…I prefer milk chocolate to dark and would rather eat fresh fruit rather than put it in a drink.

Cool Treats

Stampin Up Cool Treats Gift Card Holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Today’s gift card holder is made using the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits and the Cool Treats Bundle. I find most teenagers hard to buy for.  They usually just want/need money.  I prefer to give a gift certificate or gift card and enjoy making fun cards to go with them.  After a ballgame the kids like to go to the local Friendly’s for a bite to eat and/or ice cream.  I chose the colors for my card from the gift card and Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper.

People often ask me how I choose my color combinations.  I get inspiration everywhere…clothes, bedding, home decor, catalogs, and even gift cards.  When I looked at this gift card, Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach popped out at me.  I pulled out cardstock in those 2 colors to start and made my gift card holder with a piece of 6 x 6 Peekaboo Peach.

Then I needed a belly band so I flipped through my designer series paper swatches (which I purchase from my upline, Susan Itell at simplestampin.com).  I keep them in a basket in my craft area and refer to them all the time!!

I thought the sprinkles pattern from the Tasty Treats Designer Series Paper would be perfect for this card.  The belly band measures 1 1/4 x 9.  I wrapped it loosely around the gift card holder and secured it with Fast Fuse adhesive.  (You want to make sure you have room for the gift card and can move it easily on and off.)

Next, I chose colors from the DSP to cut my ice cream scoops using the Frozen Treats Framelits. I cut the dish from another piece of DSP and popped it all up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a Whisper White circle I cut from the Layering Circles Framelits.

My projects seem to evolve as I work. I decided to emboss the inside of the card holder using the Confetti Embossing Folder to tie in the sentiment I wanted to use and the sprinkles on the DSP. My Whisper White measures 2 1/2 x 3 3/4.  I layered it on a piece of 2 5/8 x 3 7/8 Watermelon Wonder and adhered it to the inside of the card.

I hope today’s project inspires you to look for inspiration all around you.  I often sit down with an idea of what I want to make and half the time the project I end up with isn’t at all what I originally planned.  Don’t be afraid to use what you have and let your project evolve as you go.  I’m usually happy with the end result and the recipient doesn’t know I didn’t make what I originally planned.

A Moroccan Pinwheel Quilt

The other day I showcased the projects we made at our monthly card club.  I had a request for the directions to make the pinwheel quilt card.  I love playing with color and patterns.  I used the Moroccan Designer Series Paper to make my pinwheel quilt card for today.

img_0297

My card is a 4 1/4″ square card.  Cut a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 and score it at 4 1/4.  The pinwheel is a lot simpler than it looks. You need 2 squares of cardstock 2 5/8 x 2 5/8 and 8 squares of DSP or cardstock 1 1/4 x 1 1/4. I started with Delightful Dijon for my large squares and used two different patterns of DSP from the Morocccan Designer Series Paper. Start by overlapping the two large squares diagonally and adhere.  Apply a glue dot or adhesive of choice to one corner of a DSP square (bottom right) and place as shown below.

Using a contrasting pattern, adhere the next piece of DSP. Continue overlapping and adding squares until only one square remains.

Tuck the final square behind the first square to finish. Add an embellishment to the center. You can use a brad, button, ribbon, or cardstock to make the center. I added a button and used a few strands of the very vanilla bakers twine to tie a knot. I adhered this to the center with a glue dot.  I also added another square of cardstock 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 to make the design pop.

I adhered the pinwheel to my Emerald Envy card base and “stitched” around the design. I needed an envelope for my square card so instead of using the envelope punch board to make it, I decided to just cut 1/2″ off each side of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope and use washi tape on each side to seal it.  I also added some matching DSP to the envelope flap. How quick & easy is that?!

I like that you can use this card for anything…no outside sentiment necessary! I think it makes a great note card to send to someone just to let them know you’re thinking of them. I really like how it turned out and think I might just go make a set of these to give as a gift. I have a friend who loves to quilt and I bet she would love a set of “quilted” cards.
