F is for Friend for the Pals Blog Hop

Pals Blog Hop June 2019

Welcome to the Pals’ June  Blog Hop. We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects using “Anything with Wings” You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

This month I’ve been sharing cards for each letter of the alphabet in my ABC Card Series. (Make sure you follow my blog so you don’t miss out on cards for every occasion from A to Z!) Today I have a quick & easy card for a friend using the Free As A Bird stamp set.

Stampin' Up! Free As A Bird friend card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I couldn’t decide between birds or butterflies for our “Anything with Wings” theme.  This simple card design would work with either. I knew I wanted to use this sentiment from Free As A Bird so this one stamp set did it all!

Here’s all the details if you would like to make this card:

  • Card Base: Seaside Spray Cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
  • DSP Layer:  2″ x 4 1/4″.  Adhere to the center of the card base.
  • Cardstock Layer: Daffodil Delight 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″.
  • Stamped Layer: Whisper White Cardstock 2-1/2″ x 4″. Stamp the image and using Memento Black Ink.  Color with Stampin’ Blends: Daffolidl Delight Combo, Old Olive Combo, and Crumb Cake Combo. Stamp sentiment in Seaside Spray ink. Adhere to Daffoldil Delight Cardstock.
  • Wrap a piece of Seaside Spray Scalloped Ribbon around the stamped layer and adhere on back.  Tie a simple knot in front. Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Embellish the envelope with a 1/4″ strip of Seaside Spray cardstock and a 2 x 6 piece of DSP.  Trim around the flap with Paper Snips.

The best part about this card is you don’t need to wait for a special occasion to send this to someone.  Make someone smile today!

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 10, 2019 when our Hoppin’ Pals share their “Mixing It Up” projects. Don’t miss the fun!

Love What You Do

I love my stamping friends! We call ourselves the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Stamps”. Recently we grabbed our “Stamping To Go Bags” and took a road trip to meet up in Delaware to stamp, shop, grab a bite to eat, and chat.  We met for brunch at a great little restaurant (You’re going to laugh at the name), “Lewinski’s on Clinton”.  After getting all the inside scoop about the restaurant, we attended a class by the owner and designer of Neat & Tangled, Danielle Walls. She is so sweet and talented! We had so much fun doing what we love to do…stamping together and learning some new techniques. Here’s a photo we took with Danielle.

One of the cards we made was a “splattered” background with a floral we fussy cut and layered with vellum.  I really liked the way it turned out and couldn’t wait to try this technique at home. I chose to use the beautiful floral from the Blended Seasons stamp set. Here’s my card.

The splattered background is fun! Dilute some white acrylic paint with a little water and use a paintbrush to tap the paint on the cardstock. *Make sure to protect your work area as I splattered paint everywhere. LOL

I used the Heat Tool to speed up the drying process and adhered it to my card base with dimensionals.  I stamped the flower image from Blended Seasons with Memento ink and colored with my Stampin’ Blends.  I love the new colors! I used Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green. (Pssst…there’s 6 more blend colors coming out in the Holiday catalog! WooHoo!) I fussy cut two of the flowers and cut a quick border out of vellum then another border a little wider.  I adhered the flower to the first layer of vellum with dimensionals then adhered the second layer with Glue Dots and adhered it to the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Love What You Do Stamp Set and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  All that was left was some envelope love and the 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stacks are perfect for lining the flap.  I love that these are available in all the color families!!! I used Lemon Lime Twist to match my background.

Stampin Up Blended Seasons Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love Christmas! When I saw the new limited-time bundle, Blended Seasons, I couldn’t wait to create my first Christmas cards of the year. I just love the Stitched Seasons Framelits! The Blended Seasons bundle is a fantastic collection of stamps and dies you can use year round. It will only be available August 1-31 while supplies last! (Click HERE if you missed yesterday’s post with all the details.)

Stampin Up Blended Seasons Bundle - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The Blended Seasons stamp set offers many possibilities for coloring and I love to color! I used my Stampin’ Blends but you could easily use watercolor pencils or Aqua Painter. I even colored my envelope to match! *Make sure you put a piece of scrap paper inside the envelope when coloring with Blends in case it bleeds through.

Here’s the measurements:

Card Base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4 (Whisper White)

Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4

Layer 2:  4 3/4 x 3 1/2

Layer 3 (DSP): 4 1/2 x 3 1/4

I cut out the smallest stitched framelit on whisper white then stamped the sentiment in Real Red and the holly with Memento Black Ink.  I used Light Cherry Cobbler for the berries and the Old Olive Combo Blends for the holly. I cut the middle-sized stitched framelit and wrapped 3/8″ Real Red Cotton Ribbon around it before adhering the stamped image.  The Stitched Framelit layer is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

You could use this card design for any occasion. Try it with different DSP and sentiments! Here’s another look at each card.Stampin Up Blended Seasons Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUpStampin Up Blended Seasons Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
