Cheerful Daisies, Layering Leaves, and More…A Showcase of 3×3 Cards

I really enjoy making cards to coordinate with gifts. If I can make a homemade gift as well, I consider that a Win! Win! I love to walk the beach and comb for shells and sea glass so I started creating some gifts from the sea. I’ve shared some of the trinket dishes I’ve made previously. I decided to create cards to coordinate.  One of my favorite cards uses the new Cheerful Daisies Bundle and the Layering Leaves Stamp set with the coordinating Bough Punch.

I was so happy with how these turned out I was inspired to create more! I have a lot of different shells so I went through my current and retired stamp sets, designer series papers, embellishments, paper pumpkin kits, etc. I was on a mission to see what I could create using what I had.  I used 12 x 12 Basic White cardstock to create the 3×3 cards. You can get 8 cards from a sheet of cardstock. Here are some of the cards I made.
Stampin' Up! Pansy Patch 3x3 card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I think pansies are such pretty flowers and I love that they come in so many different colors. I used the dies and retired DSP to create this card (a CASE from the catalog); however, you can easily stamp your own card using the Pansy Patch stamp set and Pansy Dies which are still available. This card would be so pretty to give with a pot of pansies!
Heron Habitat 3x3 note card-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I love heron and didn’t get to share all the projects I wanted to before the Heron Habitat Bundle sold out and retired! This set will stay in my collection. I used the blending brushes to create a subtle background before stamping the images.  The heron is colored with watercolor pencils and a blender pen then cut out with the coordinating die.

This card was quick & easy using the Timeless Tulips stamp set.

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers! I used the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper to create this card and matching envelope.
Stampin' Up! Painted Harvest and Leaf Punch 3x3 Card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The retired Painted Harvest Stamp set and Leaf Punch was used to create this sunflower card. I was able to match the green leaves using the recently retired Soft Succulent cardstock and Evening Evergreen ink (from the 2021-2023 In Colors).
Stampin' Up! Sailing Home Stamp set and dies 3x3 card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
If there’s a stamp set, die, or embossing folder that has anything to do with the ocean, I probably own it! LOL  This card was created using the Sailing Home Stamp set and dies. I love to go sailing and could spend my days on the water! These would be great for masculine gifts too!
Stampin' Up! Seashells 3D Embossing Folder 3x3 card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The Seashells 3D Embossing Folder is one of my favorites of all time!  I love the detail and texture it provides!
Stampin' Up! Seaside Notions and By the Bay Designer Series Paper 3x3 card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The seahorse is from the Seaside Notions stamp set (retired long ago). I colored the seahorse using my new Wild Wheat Stampin’ Blends…couldn’t match any better! The large shell (and starfish soap) are from my guest bath!
Stampin' Up! June 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit, A Little Smile, alternative idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Paper Pumpkin to the rescue for this card! The June 2019, A Little Smile, kit was one of my favorites.

These cards just make me smile! I love that I was able to use supplies I already had! I bet if you go through your stash you can do the same!

3×3 Cards are great to tuck inside a gift, leave for the waitress in a restaurant/ housekeeper in the hotel, give to the person handing you your coffee in the drive thru or give to the UPS driver who may or may not make deliveries to your home every day. (LOL) I’m sure you can think of many people to share a little handmade kindness with a note card!

Are you wondering what I’m going to do with all these shells and cards? I was asked to participate in our local Farmer’s Market that will open later this month. I thought this would be a great opportunity to meet more people and promote my Stampin’ Up! business. I intend to gift the cards with the purchase of the shells. I will tuck the coordinating card as well as my Stampin’ Up! business card in the box. I love to shop the Clearance Rack and I stocked up on Stampin’ Up! boxes and other packaging items when they went on sale! These boxes make gift giving so easy!

  1. These are FANTASTIC gift ideas.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Cheerful Daisies version.
I look at it and it makes me SMILE big.
Thanks for sharing your AMAZING talent with us.

    1. Thanks Kadie! You are too sweet! The daisies just make me smile too! Love the bright bold colors!

  2. Who could really pick a favorite but the Heron one really says “WOW” to me. Of course now my pig shell is insulted! Jeanie you constantly amaze me with your creative ideas!

  3. How do you adhere the designer paper to the shells? I have made these using cocktail napkins but the designer paper seems too thick. Love this idea! Thank you for sharing.

    1. I used cocktail napkins on the shells. I created the cards to coordinate using stamps, ink, and dsp. That was my challenge! It was fun!

    2. Wow! Thanks for all the inspiration Jeanie. They are all gorgeous and I’m sure will be big hit at the farmers market.
      Sue

  4. I have to agree with Chris; the heron set is fabulous! I also like the one candle shell that has a little, pearl foot to stabilize it. Cool beans!

    1. Thanks Margie! I learn something new all the time. I have to have the shells level for the candles so pearls to the rescue!

  5. I can tell everybody through personal experience that these are absolutely stunning! Jeanie, you are clearly an artist!

    1. You are too kind! I wish I was an artist! I think of myself more as a paper crafter. I could never paint these! Love that my stamps, paper, and ink can make me look like I have some artistic talent! LOL

  6. Jeanie, I love all of the shells that you have created with the matching cards. The Heron is my favorite because I enjoyed watching them when we lived by the creek.

    1. Hi Carol! Thank you so much! I love the heron too! We have a pond in our back yard which the heron visit daily. You are welcomed to come visit anytime! We can have fun crafting, shopping, and watching heron! Hope you are doing well!

  7. Your shells and cards are just amazing! Such a unique and beautiful gift. I’m sure you’ll do well at the farmer’s market! Good luck to you!

    1. Thank you! I’ve never done a craft show or farmer’s market in the past so it will be a new experience. If they don’t sell I’ll be way ahead of the game for gifts! 🙂

  8. Jeannie , you are so clever doing these . They are just gorgeous. Did you decoupage DSP to the shells?? I’ve only used napkins. DIdn’t know if the paper would work. Just love these. Good luck !! Hope you are in a good buying /selling area !!!!!!

    1. I used napkins to decoupage to the shells. I tried to use DSP in the past but it is a process as the DSP is even too thick! You have to work it with a bone folder to break down the fibers. They don’t come out as well as using napkins IMO. So that’s why I use napkins and try to find stamps, ink, DSP to coordinate with the napkins so it looks like a gift set. It’s a fun challenge and I have so many stamps it was actually easier than I thought.

  9. Absolutely beautiful, 😊 how everything is so coordinated!! Do you decoupage the DSP?? You are so talented and I am sure the recipients of your gifts are thrilled!! As I have said more than once, you are the best!

    1. Thank you Dee Ann! The shells are decoupaged but NOT WITH DSP. I use paper napkins on the shells. THe challenge is to use stamps, ink, and DSP to coordinate with the napkins for the cards.

  10. Hi Jeanie, These are very clever and I agree with everyone else… you are very talented. It always amazes me how your gifts and cards coordinate so well.
    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thank you Bernice! I do love to coordinate cards with gifts. I always joke with my kids that it’s all about the presentation!

  11. How clever to use your beautiful shells in such a pretty and creative way. Love the cards, too. Enjoy your week!

  12. What beautiful gifts these will make! You’d better make a LOT of them for the craft show cuz they’re gonna sell like hotcakes!
I sat on my lanai this morning while a heron was standing about 10′ away at the water’s edge waiting for his breakfast. Unfortunately, he didn’t catch any breakfast.
My question is: how do you add the gold to the edges of the shells?

    1. Thanks Karen! I enjoyed our heron while eating dinner tonight! I am just fascinated watching them and I love when they fly! TO answer your question…I paint the gold around the edges. I also paint the inside and bottom of most of the shells.

  13. What a great collection of goodies! I’m sure the market will be a huge success?

  14. Absolutely stunning crafting! I love them all! I was wondering where you get your shells? Such creative ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!
