Keeping It Slim with Sand & Sea

I love the beach! When my toes are in the sand, I’m in my happy place! I enjoy combing the shore for shells and sea glass. Just smelling the salt air and listening to the waves relaxes me like nothing else. I am dreaming of a beach vacation! Next week is my two weeks “post vaccine” and after a year of staying home I am ready for some sand & sea! My husband and I are trying to decide on a new beach destination (in the USA) to visit. What’s your favorite beach vacation? I’d love for you to leave a comment below and help us decide.

Today I’ve combined my love for the sand & sea with a fun slimline card. (*The slimline card fits in a business size envelope and doesn’t cost any extra to mail!)

The stamp set has great and versatile sentiments as well as beach images. The dies are awesome on their own and coordinate with the Seashells 3D Embossing folder. You can make an incredible background with this embossing folder or use the large die to cut the embossed shells like I did. I used the pearlescent paper and love the look! (You could sponge color on the embossed shells if you want.) Look at the texture you get from this embossing folder!

I like to bring a little of the beach home with me!
My sand collection from my travels. Visit www.juststampin.com for inspiration and Stampin' Up! supplies.I have a sand collection from all the different beaches I’ve visited. (Oh the stories I could tell about some of this sand! FYI…trying to go through customs with sand in a plastic bag is not always easy!  LOL) I love the different colors and textures. It’s amazing how different the sand is from beach to beach. I have sand from as far north as Prince Edward Island and as far south as Cancun, Mexico. I also have sand from as far west as Hawaii and as far east as Normandy, France. I spend a lot of time on the east coast and have collected sand from Maine to Florida. My favorite is the pink sand from Bermuda! This is such a fun collection and brings a smile to my face.  It’s inexpensive and easy to document my travels with some Avery labels on jars. I wonder where my next sand will be from???? Help me decide! Leave a comment below suggesting a great beach getaway!

Do you like creating slimline cards? Here’s some I’ve shared previously. This size card is great for stamping images, showcasing embossing, or layering Designer Series Paper. It’s also a great size for sending a handwritten note as there’s plenty of space to write inside. *Click on the image to view the original post.

  1. Hmmm . . . my first thought was Jones Beach, then I thought Montauk Beach. Then I remember I went to Coney Island on the weekends when I was young, oh and Rockaway Beach too. So the next time you are in NY I will bring you to any of these beaches.
    Have a blessed day.

  2. Great post Jeanie! Love the card! As for beaches…. hmmmm….. seems I am always on a small boat sailing away from the beaches! 🥰

  3. Siesta Key Beach, Florida! It’s a fabulous gulf coast beach and often ranked the #1 or #2 beach in the US and #5 in the world.

  4. I love this parade of beautiful slimline cards, Jeanie, especially the seashell one today. How about Bondi Beach in Australia. It is beautiful! Enjoy your day!

  5. We’ve had family reunions at Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Beaches are very clean and the water crystal clear.

  6. Love this stamp suite! My favorite beaches are on the Gulf coast of Florida – Bradenton Holmes Beach and Siesta Key are two of the best! Plus there are lots of other things to do in these areas too.

  7. I LOVE your card with the shells used individually!!! Great idea! And I LOVE your sand collection! Your display of the similar but different glass jars is PERFECT!! As always, you excel in creativity!
Have you been to Sanibel or Captiva in Florida? Beautiful sand & lots of shells. I live near Anna Maria Island which has beautiful white sand. Plan your travel to Florida between Dec & May to avoid hurricane season! (May is usually perfect) Let me know if you visit around the Gulf coast/Sarasota area, I’d love to meet you in person. We’ve talked via email in the past. 🙂

  8. Love your card! I am not a beach/water person. Go figure since I am a Pisces and was born a few blocks from the Mississippi River in Iowa. One of the steam boats will be going down the Mississippi River and one of their stops will be my home town. Wouldn’t it be a riot for you to be there with a Welcome sign for you two? Ann Schach and the boxer crew as well. I bet Beth McCullough would come too. Sand, well some from one of the sandbags on the river?

  9. I think you already have sand from 2 of my favorite beaches,Hawaii and Bermuda! My favorite place in Florida is Carillon Beach, near Panama City. It is a gorgeous development with a veranda near the pool and the ocean.
It’s absolutely gorgeous there! Check it out!

  10. I’m new to NC (starting 7th year!) Hailing from Newport, RI, where Easton’s Beach was good, my all time fav…Second Beach in Middletown, RI. I have been exploring the beaches in NC (300 miles of coastline!) My discovery…Emerald Isle! Pristine beach! It’s on the Crystal Coast of NC. I do have to say…NC has beautiful beaches and shoreline! You should try it!
