Stampin Up This Little Piggy and Paper Pumpkin Frights & Delights alternative birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp www.juststampin.com

This card reminds me of one of my favorite childhood books/movies, Charlotte’s Web. I saw this idea by Lisa Fast on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club Facebook page. I knew this would be the perfect birthday card for my pig loving friend, Susan Itell. Lisa didn’t give any directions so I played around, changed it up a bit, and added the cute spider trinket from the Toil & Trouble Suite in the Holiday Catalog. Here’s the card details:

  • Line the opening of the treat bag at 4 1/2 and cut off the seam on the bottom.
  • Cut a 3 3/4 x 4 1/2 piece of whisper white cardstock and stamp sentiment. Slide the cardstock into the bag sleeve.  It fits snuggly.
  • Adhere the sleeve to a piece of 4 x 4 3/4 Black cardstock.
  • Adhere the black layer to a Blushing Bride card base cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.
  • Stamp the pig on Shimmery White cardstock and color with ink and an Aqua Painter.  Trim around the pig with Paper Snips and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add Baker’s Twine from the Paper Pumpkin kit around the top of the card and tie a bow. Attach the spider trinket with silver thread and a glue dot.

As Charlotte would say, “Teriffic!”

Here’s a few ideas from Pinterest and Facebook I shared at my Paper Pumpkin get together using the Back in Plaid kit. You can emboss the stocking (iron first and spray with hair spray), make baby booties (roll the cuff) or a winter cap (cut the heel off and add a candy treat inside).

Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin Back and Plaid embossed Christmas Stocking - Jeanie Stark StampinUp www.juststampin.com

Last year I filled the stockings with gift cards for friends and family.  It makes a quick & easy gift presentation.  I bought extra kits to use the stockings for table favors for our Christmas Eve dinner this year. I’m going to fill them with candy and questions.  It’s fun to have everyone go around the table and read their question and answer.  It really sparks some entertaining conversation!

  1. Thank you Love all of these but I do have to say that my favorite is the little pig card.. so adorable ..

  2. Love the adorable pig card and your special treats! I bet Susan “squealed” with delight over her card. Hugs and have a happy day.

    1. Thanks Mary Ann! It definitely was a “Susan” card even if Daisy Mae is black not pink! I have to confess when I colored the pigs for another card awhile back I colored several so my piggy was ready to go! It made this card super quick to put together!

  3. I love the pig card!! I had already saved my web-printed bags to use for cards rather than treat bags but I like your design better than mine. If I may CASE, I will do this for all my elementary teacher coworkers. Who doesn’t adore Charlotte’s Web?? Thanks for the brilliant design! (And keep posting, please–we miss you <3)

    1. Thank you Linda! If you CASE please give credit to Lisa Fast for the original idea. I just changed it up a bit and figured out measurements. You can view hers on the Paper Pumpkin Facebook page. I found it easy to make a sleeve with the bag and stamp on the whisper white cardstock then slide it in. It looks like she may have cut her bag smaller and stamped on the outside of the bag which is hard not to smudge. I am all about making it simple and easy to do so just trim the bag the length of the cardstock and slide it in…no adhesive necessary. 🙂

  4. I forgot about your Charlotte’s Web card until I saw it again or had I seen someone else’s? I knew I should have bought those darn spider trinkets so I could have made one of these cards too. I could make one for the children’s library at the Public Library. It wouldn’t have to be Halloween then so I can still get them. I bought extras of the plaid socks in case I was going to do an advent calendar for a Christmas charity. Or, I have them for whatever reason. They were just too cute. I can’t wait to see what is in the plaid box for November. Missed your posts but I certainly understand you have a lot going on. Hugs!

    1. You probably saw Lisa Fast’s on the PP FB page that I mentioned above. I just changed hers up a bit and figured out the measurements.
