Kindness Rocks!

I love the beach!  We had a wonderful family vacation combing the beach, eating seafood, and just relaxing and chatting away as the waves crashed along the shore. (I think that was the best therapy for me!!!) As we walked along the beach path there was this “rock garden”.  It just made me smile as I read the weathered board and looked at all the different painted rocks.img_5208

How simple yet powerful! It hit me that this is something I could do with my students!  I go back to the doctor this week and I’m hoping to be cleared to go back to school. I would love to involve my Pre-K students in painting rocks and making a special Kindness Garden at school.  I teach my little ones that they can make a difference (even at 4 years old) and we role play ways to show kindness.  This would be something they could be involved in as well as the school community. I can just imagine the kids on their way home from school or church choosing a rock or adding one of their own to share. I’m excited!

The sentiment on my card today says it all.  A little kindness, whether it’s a card, a smile, or a painted rock can brighten someone’s day. I hope you are inspired to spread a little kindness today.

Stampin' Up! Abstract Impressions Thank you card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This simple card layout is one that would work with whatever Designer Series Paper and sentiments you have. I used the Abstract Impressions Stamp set with the Stitched Shapes Framelits and Layering Circles Framelits. The ribbon is wrapped around the DSP layer and tied with Linen Thread. The DSP is from the retired Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack.

I have another project to share with you that ties in with today’s theme.

Stampin Up Darling Label Punch Box treat holder- Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I bought some Chocolate “Rocks” at a gift shop and knew I could use them to make little gifts for my team members. The sentiment is just perfect!

The stamp set and punch are from the Darling Label Punch Box.  It includes a beautiful tin filled with crafting must-haves…a versatile 6-piece photopolymer stamp set, clear stamp block, 2 ink spots, and a matching punch.

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects. I would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment sharing an act of kindness…either something you did or something someone did for you. I will pick a random winner to receive some blog candy! I am blessed with many wonderful people in my life.  I strive to pay forward the kindness shown to me. An act of kindness that will forever stand out in my mind was a beautiful handmade prayer shawl I received in the mail after my dear friend, Sister Corda, passed away. It was from someone I had never met that reads my blog.  I was so touched and comforted by her gift and thoughtfulness. I can’t thank her enough! I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy in April and she is truly a wonderful and special person!

Have a great day!

  1. Hi Jeanie, what a great card and concept. Reminds me of the hippie days! Ha. Ha. I am that old. I actually have one rock on my desk from Father’s Day when my hubby and I went to a state park for a walk. All I put on it was the date.

I’m praying for you Jeanie . . . I’m hoping the elbow is where it should be and you can go back to your “kiddies”.
    Have a blessed day.
    🙂

  2. Good Morning and could you hear me squealing all the way across town! I LOVE THIS ROCK GARDEN…..what a super sweet, kind…AMAZING and of so simple thing to do! Now to your card….PERFECT….loved how you tied the linen thread….just adorable and the candy…..another perfect touch! I can remember buying them when James was doing a science project……they are fun!

Thanks for making me smile….kindness DOES matter……good lick at the doctors!!!

  3. Such a cool card. I still have a half sheet of that DSP. The one church across the street had a small stock of rocks with words on them but they are gone. Maybe I will take care of that! Love how you included the shawl Nancy made you in your time of needing comfort.

Not needing to toot my horn I will tell you about an act of kindness given to me. I get a Facebook post from a needlework guild in eastern Iowa I used to belong to. Anyway, one of the members posted an expensive needlework canvas by Charley Harper, an artist I love. Among the birds and critters on the canvas is a basset hound. I commented on her wonderful work and that I had a basset hound. No way could I afford the canvas let alone want to do all that work but I told her I needed to see if the chart for the Bassett hound was still in print. A few days later she sent the chart for the basset hound to me with a note to enjoy and I could pay it forward instead of reimbursing her for it. It was fun for me to be reacquainted with some members of the guild as well. Remember Chris R. From Iowa lives on as Chris from Pella since my email was hacked.

    1. I thought this was you as I was reading the post. Chris R from Iowa in cognito! You rock!

      1. Thanks Mary Ann. I had to reinvent my name as it wouldn’t let me. Leave comments. Technology, go figure.

I had to smile as Teddy and I walked around the town square yesterday we came across a little rock with LOVE painted on it on the sidewalk in front of a newly owned shop.

  4. Jeanie, love the rock garden concept! And your card “rocks!” (Perfect paper for this 😉 I saw a similar garden when I went back to WI to visit Joanna a couple of years ago. I’ll send you a photo. Someone had made a big tree stump into a tic tac toe game, painted rocks and put them on the stump for people to play the game. It was so clever!

Random acts of kindness are hard to recognize in one’s self because we just do them without thinking about it! But my husband and I were having dinner in a restaurant back in KY this summer where we saw a young family sitting near us that had their hands full with three young children. They looked a bit frazzled. They touched Rod’s heart and without telling them, he picked up their dinner bill. We left before they knew it, and never saw their reaction, but I hope it blessed their day.

I hope you have a blessed day!

  5. LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️ LOVE!!! Thanks for sharing this today. Beautiful card. Adorable project. Such kind thoughts and inspiration.
The last random act of kindness shown to me was from an amazing fellow demonstrator who sent me a beautiful card out of the blue. It made my day!! 😉
Now, I think I’ve been inspired to spread some kindness! Off to find a rock!

  6. How adorable and I think your littles would love this idea! There is a similar rock garden at an area church by me and I always admire it.

I was at DD drive through recently and when I got to the window to pay, the gentleman before me paid my tab. I paid it forward and paid for the person behind me. I left there feeling good and with a happy heart. ❤️

  7. I love the idea of a rock garden. Our county had rocks all over it from people painting and/or writing on them and leaving them for others to find. One RAK involved a sweet friend giving me one when my sister died. I love your ribbon treatment and the paper–sorry it’s retired and I missed it!
    TFS.

  8. Love that you aren’t afraid to show us “retired” paper for the perfect project. The card is a wonderful example of the kindness principle ~lucky the recipient who receives it~and your treat box is too cute. Thanks for the inspiration.
Here’s hoping your doctor gives you a clean bill of health. Fingers crossed!!

  9. When you’re in ministry, you’re basically poor, unless you’re rich before you find the path God leads you to. :)))

So, for the last decade plus, Morgan and I have been called to help others, and there’s been very little income over this time.

One night, we came home to our stoop – reached to unlock the door, and there was a plain envelope there awaiting us. Inside was a beautiful card by Maya Angelou, as well as 50 $20 bills. We. could. not. believe. it. We were just totally dumbfounded. Thankful, but totally dumbstruck!!!! :)))

What made it even more special? It was ANONYMOUS!!! We still have NO CLUE who was used by God to help us. But, again, we feel very, very blessed. :))

Anyway, the card is gorgeous, the rock garden is awesome, and I pray for positive news from your dr!!! :)))

    God bless you, Jeanie!!! :)))

    His,

    joy

  10. What a joyful treat to read your blog this morning with all the sweet comments included ! The Rock Garden is just precious and so inspiring !
Your little people will love doing rocks and what a fun project !
Cute cute treat idea and I think I have some of that dsp still …..
    Healing hugs !!!

  11. Jeanie, What can I say that others haven’t already except your blo was so sweet it broughr a tear rolling down my cheek. I am rather new to your blog but have enjoyed it so much. I hope you’re going to Orlando in November, I may by chance get to meet you.
Love your card and the retired DSP. As said in another comment thanks for using a retired item in your post. I use retired often, if I like it I don’t want to stop using.
May you gain a great report at the doctor.
