Stampin Up Moon Baby gift card holder baby card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

It’s time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge! How would YOU like to be a guest designer? Simply play along and someone will be chosen each week to be a future guest designer.  Here’s this week’s challenge board…

My niece is pregnant with her first child so I know I will be needing a card for her baby shower.  I always love to give books as gifts and Kohl’s sells books and stuffed animals on behalf of their Kohl’s Cares program.  I love to purchase these as 100% of the net profit from the sale is donated to charitable organizations including children’s hospital initiatives that support healthy development, safety, wellness and chronic disease management. When I see my favorites I buy several to have on hand to give as gifts as they are so reasonably priced at just $5 each. Today’s card holds a gift card and goes with one of my children’s favorite bedtime stories, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.

I used the Moon Baby stamp set to create my card for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  I went down the first column with animal, baby, layers. ( It also works on the diagonal with stripes, punch, layers as I used the banner punch on the ends of my sentiment layer.) This card measures 4 1/4 x 9 1/2 and is scored at 1 1/2 and 4. It has a pocket to hold a gift card inside.

I love making my cards and gifts coordinate!  That’s the beauty of a handmade card.

It’s hard to tell in the photo but I embossed the background layer with stars to go with the cover of the book.  I colored the animals with Stampin’ Blends and popped the banner with Dimensionals.  If you need a gift idea for a new mom to be, I highly recommend this book!  Do you have a favorite book you like to read your children or grandchildren? I would love for you to leave a comment below and share your story.

  1. Looking great. I never heard of that Kohl’s offer. We have one right here in my town.
    🙂

    1. Usually the books and stuffed animals are right as you come in the door. They change out the selections regularly. I know I have been buying them for at least 10 years! THey have offered Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, Curious George books, CLifford, etc. Great children’s books. I display the books and stuffed animals in my classroom and the kids love them!

  2. So soft and sweet…great card! Your niece will love it. Have fun this weekend…can’t wait to hear all about it.

  3. What a thoughtful and totally A-DOR-ABLE gift!

Your card with the gift card is super sweet 🙂

  4. I am not familiar at all with gift cads cards. Could you suggest somewhere on Pinterest to tell me how to make this card? I have a new great grandbabies on the way. Would love to send a card like this! Thank you so much for sharing! Have a blessed day!

    1. I put the measurements above to cut & score the card. Use Tear & Tape on the sides of the inside pocket to keep closed. The card measures 4 x 4 1/4. The embossed layer of Pacific Point on top is 1/8 smaller. If you scroll under categories on my blog you will see gift card/money holders..click on it and there are several versions I have shared with photo tutorials and measurements. I hope this helps.

  5. So cute. I haven’t been to Kohl’s in ages but now I will make it a point to. I love that they give back to the charities! Speaking of love, I love this card – so darn cute. The little animals look like they are dancing under the light of the moon. Like Susan would say she is over the moon with the stripes!

I bet as I write this you and everyone will be having a blast of a time! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!
