A Card Sketch for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #26

I look forward to Thursdays! I love seeing how others interpret the Tic Tac Toe Challenge board each week. Here’s this week’s challenge board.

No automatic alt text available.

I was intrigued by the sketch element this week and decided to use that in my design. When I first started stamping I would draw sketches of cards I saw and liked.  (Who knew I could just google card sketches and have tons of samples to choose from?! Obviously not me at the time.) This is one of my favorites.

Mojo Monday - The Blog

To me, this is a classic, quick & easy, go to sketch. You can punch the circles or cut them with dies.  You can cut patterned paper or stamp images and sentiments…so many possibilities! Here’s my card.

I chose the far right row going down: chevron, sketch, acorn. I used the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch to cut the chevron and acorn designs from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper pack. The sentiment is from the Painted Harvest stamp set and stamped in Early Espresso ink. I used the new Stampin Blends to color the acorn and leaves from COunt My Blessings stamp set. I love coloring with the Blends! They are so easy to work with! I used Crumb Cake, Old Olive, and Bronze to color then fussy cut it out and attached to my card with Stampin Dimensionals. *Quick Tip: Put a piece of scrap paper under your project when you are coloring with the Stampin’ Blends. (I put a post it note inside my envelope to prevent my ink from bleeding through while I was coloring.) Here’s my envelope to match.

  1. Good Morning Jeanie, Love the card, colors and envelope! You are making me want the Count My Blessings stamp set!
    Happy Friday!
    🙂

    1. Thanks Nancy! These 2 stamp sets are my favorites from the Holiday catalog! The Painted Harvest set is carrying over. YEA!!! I guess we will find out tomorrow if Count My Blessings will retire or not.

  2. Great formula. Love your creativity. Will definitely use this idea. I know I can use so many of my DSPs with this formula. Thank you!

  3. Oh, you nailed this challenge and the sketch! I received the Wink of Stella gift package from you and I promise that I will think of your precious friend and you each time I use it. Thank you so much!

  4. I agree with Nancy – love all the aspects and that envelope! I told myself I didn’t need that stamp set but darn, it just moved way up on the Wish/Want List. I love acorns and oak trees. We have several in our neighborhood. Your color blending is gorgeous! Of course the sentiment is right up there too. Great take on the sketch and the TTT challenge.

    1. Thanks Chris! The color blending was soooooo easy with the new Stampin’ Blends! I love them!!! Of course I really like to color (which is probably why I love teaching Pre K!)

  5. Love that you used the sketch square in the Tic-Tac-Toe board this week. It always is so inspiring to see what design you chose to incorporate and then to see how you interpreted it. Believe it or not, I don’t have either stamp set, although I have to say, I agree with Nancy and Chris~REALLY want Count My Blessings having seen your card!
Question: Did you put a blotter paper inside the envelope to absorb the blends ink when you colored it? I was wondering if it would bleed through onto the other side.

  6. Yes, I did put a piece of scrap paper inside the envelope when I was coloring the front! Thanks for asking…I will update my blog post when I get home to add that important piece of information so you don’t ruin your envelope. I appreciate you and everyone who takes the time to comment and share tips and ideas!

    1. Oh thanks. I had not thought about it bleeding through with the envelope. I guess I have not used the blenders on an envelope yet. I do put a piece of scrap paper under my card just in case it bleeds.
