Today is my husband’s birthday! He spoils me 364 days of the year so I am excited to surprise him today! We recently attended a Casino Night fundraiser for my school and had such a great time. Here’s a photo of us from the event.
I thought I would continue the theme for his birthday. Here’s the card I made for him.
I used several retired stamp sets, dies, and DSP to create this card. I know my husband is going to love it! The red glimmer paper and silver foil really make this card sparkle! Here’s a close up of the “slot machine”. The lever actually pulls down! I fussy cut the cherries from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired).
Some chocolate covered “casino chips” add a sweet treat.
Can you guess his birthday gift? I made these “dice” to go with the card to hold his “chips” and added surprise.
The cube box is quick & easy to make with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I started with a piece of 8 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock. With the long side across the top I scored it at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10. I scored the short side at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2.
Look at the photo below to see where to cut to make the box. Remove the little rectangle from the bottom of the box and cut up each of the score lines along the bottom. You remove quite a bit from the top of the box just saving one section for the top/lid. Notch the ends to make it easy to close the box.
Apply Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the box. Fold the bottom flaps in and adhere with Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive. I punched 3/4″ circles and adhered with Multipurpose Glue to the sides of the boxes to look like dice.
For his birthday gift, I booked a weekend getaway at the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino. I wanted to include a little extra surprise with some “gambling” money. The cube box is a great way to give cash. I folded $ in thirds accordion style and attached with washi tape. The washi tape can be removed without tearing the bills. It is so much fun to pull the top bill and see what looks like a never ending money box!
I hope he’s feeling lucky! I love the way this makes such a fun gift presentation.

What a fantastic project and gift, Jeanie…so much love in it! Carl already hit the Jackpot!
You are all about the presentation and what a presentation this is! The only thing that would have made it better, though funnier, would have been your picture taking with your Halloween domino costume! Amazing how you tied all this together. Love the present of money in the box – just too much fun plus a trip to the casino! I had to laugh at the cut out cherries as well! Great job!
That is just adorable! Thanks for sharing!!! You are a very talented demonstrator and I really enjoy your posts!
