Peace on Earth for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #20

tic tac toe

It’s Thursday so that means it’s time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge! Using the challenge board to choose my elements made this project easy.  Let’s face it, we spend more time trying to come up with card ideas than it takes to make the card.  Let the challenge board do the “thinking” for you.  Here’s my card.

Here’s this week’s board:

I chose to go down the left side: peace, metallic thread, white and by adding some rhinestones I also made tic tac toe on the diagonal: peace, Free, rhinestones.  It really is so much fun and easy to create using the challenge board.  Give it a try!!!

I love to make fun fold cards and this one is actually the first fun fold style I ever made. (You can see my first fun fold card below.)  This style card is really easy to make and doesn’t take a lot of products to put together.  You need a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of cardstock for the base of the card and a 4 x 5 1/4 layer for the inside of the card. You also need 2 pieces of 4 x 3 DSP and then any shape to put on the front of the card.  Here’s how to put it all together.

Fold both 4 x 3 pieces of DSP up to the middle to create a point.  Make sure you don’t overlap.  Add a bit of glue to keep the folded pieces closed and then fold up/over.

Adhere the folded flaps to the top and bottom of the inside layer then adhere to the card base.

You can make this card with any shape added to the front. The Carols of Christmas Stamp Set was an easy choice for the “Peace” element for my card.  I love this sentiment and the large font! I stamped it using Tranquil Tide ink and cut it out using the Layering Squares Framelits. I added Silver Metallic Thread and a folded piece of ribbon behind the sentiment before adhering to the scalloped layer. It’s hard to tell in the photo but I used Clear Wink of Stella to add a little glimmer to the sentiment.

Make sure when you adhere the stamped image to the card you just put adhesive on the top flap (close to the point) so you can open the card. The inside sentiment is from Star of Light Stamp Set. I added a rhinestone to the center of the star on the inside.

I added DSP to the envelope to coordinate with my card.

Here is the first fun fold card I did years ago before I had a blog. My friend, Susan Itell, featured it on her blog. You can see how you can use different shapes on the front.

  1. Hi Jeanie,
I like this Fun Fold very much. I think it looks great and you did a wonderful job picking out the colors and stamps. I like how it opens too.
    Happy Thursday.
    🙂

    1. Thanks Nancy! I forget about this fun fold…I haven’t made it in awhile! I do like how it turned out with this stamp set. I think this would be a great fun fold to offer in my next card kit. What do you think???

  2. 1. Congrats to redpt08!.

    2. I love this card and it would be right at home at 513 Broadway because it is green (I consider Tranquil Tide more of a dark green than a blue) just like our house and both cars and truck! Story about that in a minute. This card is so cool – sort of reminds me of a mint that is cooling and calming to the taste. It was just like a beautiful winter night with stars shining and you suck in that air! That really is a good thing. Can you believe, I have never made this fold? Love your first card you made with this fold but the peacefulness just adds to the beauty. I am sure I have something that would work for the front but you are really making me want both of those sets!

    3. Story time. It really was a coincidence that our old Camry is dark green and MIke’s old pick up is dark green. I liked the Camry because in Houston I wanted something that wouldn’t be just like all the other cars. I have had to find the car in the Astrodome’s parking lot too many times in the rain as Mike would forget where he parked it. Moving on, we moved to Pella and just happened to buy a dark green house. The neighbor, who has a car repair place, remarked asking if we bought the house to go with our vehicles? We looked at him – like what and then it dawned on us that it was green. OK it came time for us to buy another car (maybe) when Mike’s job was moved to South Dakota but we were not moving there. We were looking at Camry’s and other cars. The one salesman kept bugging Mike about it. I do not get along well with car salesmen or insurance people and Mike usually makes me wait in the car. Anyway, the salesman finally said, “What will it take to get you into a new car?” I had already checked the lot for cars and colors and was wanting to leave. I blurted out that it had to be green since I did not see a green one on the lot. Low and behold he had one on their back lot that I did not know about. So we ended up with another green car. Now, we are painting the house and I am out putting white primer on it. People who know we have green cars and kid us about it, stop and say they will miss the green and why are we painting it white. I was getting tired of answering questions so I told them we couldn’t afford to paint it white so it will be green as this is the primer – do they know how much it would cost to get all white vehicles?

    1. You are too funny! Here is a little fact about Susan….she ALWAYS buys white vehicles….both her and John! I have never known her to have anything other than a white vehicle. My first car was red, second car yellow…my 2 favorite colors. I now drive my favorite vehicle I have ever owned…a Honda van!! And it’s “granite green”! Stampin Up needs to come out with a granite green! LOL

      1. Our first car together was red Honda. It was not an automatic and I couldn’t drive it but I didn’t like to drive anyway as I took the bus all the time. So, I never got my driver’s license. Then we had a beige with brown trim Le Car. I have a very funny story about the Le Car but it is not quite suitable for print on your blog. Then, a brown Honda Civic or maybe it was bronze. This car was in the promo for the U of I Hospitals for about a year. He just happened to be picking me up from work when this was being filmed. We moved to Houston and the Honda didn’t have a/c so we had a maroon Dodge Lancer which was a piece of junk. A woman crossed several lanes on the freeway and took out the car on her way to an exit. So, then we bought a brown Toyota Camry which we loved but was stolen. Our house was brown at the time too. It was recovered and had a ton of french fries from McDonald’s in it and gang signs painted and etched on it. But, we sold it not knowing if something else was wrong with it on advice from the police as it was 10 years old by then and probably was going to be used for parts. We then started the green saga. I am not sure why Mike had so many vehicles as I didn’t get my license until about 10-12 years ago!

  3. Well, I have not used Tranquil Tide much yet ,but your card makes me want to try it more as the main color . Pretty and tranquil . I have used one fold on the top like yours ,but not tried both ….looks like fun ! I like your other creation also ….colorful and cheery !
