J is for Joy

Welcome to my Holiday ABC series! J is for Joy and today’s card brings me that! Yesterday I shared highlights from my weekend away with some of my fellow demonstrator friends.  I am still smiling from all the fun we had.  One thing we like to do when we get together is a shoe box swap.  We each design a card to share and put everything needed to make it in a shoe box. Then everyone makes each others card.  This card was designed by Rosanne Mulhern (Heartfelt Stamping). I had so much fun making it.

I love the Large Letters Framelits dies! I admit they are a bit of an investment but once I bought them I have used them for so many cards and projects!  They are great for personalizing or monogramming cards, tags, or gift bags. I used them for an accordion fold card I shared previously that I made for Mother’s Day. (You can see that project HERE.)

Today’s card features a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Cherry Cobbler card base which is scored at 4 1/4.  The next layer measures 4 x 5 1/4 and is stamped with the Woodgrain Stamp in Crumb Cake ink. JOY is cut from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and could be added to the Basic Black layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals; however, for this card it is layered on top of craft foam that was also cut with the Large Letters Framelits and adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The pines were cut from Old Olive cardstock using the Pretty Pines Thinlits and adhered with glue dots.

The inside sentiment is from Snowflake Sentiments and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  The layer of DSP and black cardstock adds the finishing touch to tie it all together.

Black  may not be a traditional color for Christmas but it sure looks striking with the Cherry Cobbler and Christmas pines. I love it! Here’s a photo of Rosanne with her card from our stamping weekend.

  1. Reading your blog brings me Joy! I look forward to reading it and seeing your great ideas! 😊 Many thanks! The large letter framelits are on my Wish list!!

  2. Hi Jeanie, I love, love, love the idea of the foam cut exactly like the letters. It looks like they are on layers of cardstock or chipboard, etc. This is something I’ll definitely remember.
    Love the plaid too!
    🙂

  3. I love these big letters and they make such a WOW card !
What a great layout and I guess I have to get these big boys ….
Your blog brings me JOY because it is so much fun and inspiration .
    Thanks for sharing !

  4. Oh my gosh! The JOY I am getting from this post is the best! I love the card and Jerry, (in the sombreo), and his little brother are loving the card also!!!😂 Great picture!!!

  5. I love the Joy card and hope we get to see the other shoebox swaps too. My family and granddaughters, friends, “me” time and so much more, including reading your blog, bring me joy. I love the giraffes in the picture–my smile for the day!

  6. JOY for sure seeing this card. Tough to decide if I like this card more than the the Joy wreath design. Both knock my socks off. Thanks for the continued inspiration with this ABC series.

  7. Jumping for joy over these joyfully jubilant jewels. How is that for a mouthful? I am still in a joyful quandary of which is my favorite. I was wondering if the paint smells were getting to me as I swore I was seeing joyful giraffes with hats enjoying the activities. How fun. I am enjoying my new friend, a big moose with a black and red checkered hat with ear flaps and other fun details. He brings me joy as well. Speaking of joy, I bet Susan was beaming with joy with all the fun plus her birthday.
