A Bookmark for Back To School Night

Tonight was Back to School Night.  I always enjoy this evening getting to know the parents of my Pre-K students and establishing our partnership in learning.  I made bookmarks to give to each of the parents. Parents often ask me what they can do to help their child succeed in school. My #1 answer is always the same…Read to your child!  I hope this will be a little reminder.

I had fun making these in many different colors! I used Shimmery White cardstock. Each one measures 2 x 5 1/2. You can make 8 from 1 sheet of cardstock.

They are quick & easy to make using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Butterfly Basics Stamp Set, Bold Butterfly Framelits, some ribbon, baker’s twine, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I stamped the fern twice in Pear Pizzazz ink without reinking. I love this sentiment!

I love to give books as gifts and enjoy making a handmade bookmark to tuck inside. There is plenty of room on the back to write a personal note. The Tag Topper Punch is the most used punch in my collection…a must have in my opinion.

Have a wonderful evening!

  1. Great advice and tell them not to stop when the child learns to read. Giving bookmarks is a perfect reminder. Wish I had been stamping before I retired from teaching struggling readers.

  2. Love love love the bookmarks! What a great idea and the quote is perfect for PreK children and their parents! I was a librarian (and still am at heart) so it’s impossible to pick one book as my favorite–or even one author! I’d tell them each time I did book talks that this was my new favorite book! They’d just laugh at me! Hope open house went well.

  3. Love your choice of sentiment for the bookmarks; perfect! I have a crop of Daisy Girl Scouts this year that is painful to watch struggle with fundamental reading. You can tell which children have been read to, even a little, and which children have not. Bless you for gently reminding the parents of their crucial role in their children’s educational development. (And the bookmarks are just plain adorable) WELL DONE!

  4. WOW, what a great little gift for the Parents! The bookmarks are so pretty and thoughtful. They look so great together.
I was wondering if I missed something . . . or is it my computer. Did you change your posting time? Mine seems to be coming in the evening now. Just wondering.
    Have a great day.
    🙂

    1. LOL Oh Nancy, you haven’t missed anything except…. I have worked part time teaching PreK for the past 16 years. This year “they” decided PreK needed to be full day…it’s an adjustment for me to say the least! I have been trying to create/post whenever I can (between naps LOL). Many projects go out the door before I can even photograph them! I hope to get back on a normal schedule once I adjust to my new hours. No more “12 -3 All About Me”! I love my little 4 year olds but enjoyed sending them home at 11:30 and having time to do other things I love too.

      1. OMG . . . that is like working double time. My friend used to do two Pre-K classes, an a.m. and a p.m. class, same work, different kids. To think I didn’t even go to Kindergarten! Well take it easy, naps are good. 🙂

  5. What a quick, easy and thoughtful little gift! To answer your question, I just finished reading Vikki Kestells “Prairie Legacy” series (7 books). Excellent faith filled fiction.

  6. Thank you for posting this! I am having a Spring Fling class with butterflies & flowers, love this quick and easy bookmark
