A Wicked Good Treat

I was born and raised in Massachusetts and “wicked” was a common term.  It brings back childhood memories when I hear it and I have to say the new Holiday Catalog is “wicked good”! Two of my favorite suites in the new Holiday Catalog are the Painted Autumn Suite and Spooky Night Suite. Watch this fun video showcasing the “wicked good” products in these suites.

How fun was that video?! I made some wicked easy nugget holders using the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper, some Kraft cardstock, and the Spooky Cat Stamp Set.

I started with a piece of 3 x 8 1/4 Kraft cardstock for this project.  I was thrilled Stampin’ Up! brought this paper back in the Holiday catalog.  It is part of the Merry Little Christmas 12 x 12 Cardstock Pack (Item # 144622).  I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score it at 1 3/8, 1 7/8, 3 1/4, and 3 3/4.

The DSP from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper is so cool!  It reminds me of cutting paper dolls as a kid!  You can punch out the cats, cut out hats, or cut the 12 x 12 DSP into 3 x 3 squares for the moon and tree.  (You get 16 from 1 sheet of DSP!!!)

I used the Spooky Cat stamp set to stamp the owl in Crumb Cake, Basic Black, and So Saffron.  I love how this stamp set is photopolymer which makes it so easy to see with 2 step stamping.

I cut another piece of DSP 1 3/8 x 3 for the front of the treat holder.  I also cut (3) 1 x 3 strips to cover the Hershey Nuggets.  I used Glue Dots to adhere the DSP to the nuggets.

You don’t need any adhesive to close the treat holder.  Just wrap it around the nuggets and tie ribbon or twine around to hold together. I used the new Vintage Crochet Trim on the owl treat holder and Solid Black Baker’s Twine on the cat treat holder. These are such fun treats to give to young and old alike! I have been on a roll making a bunch! Here’s the view from the side so you can see how it stays together.

Here’s another look at each of these cute treat holders!

I can’t wait to make all kinds of sweet treats and cards using this set. My daughter picked out the cat stamp as her favorite item in the catalog and made sure it was on my preorder.  I will be using the cat punch for more than just Halloween!

You can purchase the products used to make today’s project from my online store.

  1. I have this deep craving for chocolate – I wonder why? These nuggets are wrapped in their finest are so cute and yummy! Love at first bite! But the little holder is just really to die for! I would be a little spooked to use the mouse stamp but I can handle the owl. Now, I am not big on cats and even allergic but this is definitely the cat’s meow! I love how you decorated these holders – esp the cat one. with it’s little bow! I will be making at least one of these for my friend Pam who has a black cat and loves candy. Oh great pumpkins, now I need to buy the darn cat punch! Actually, I thought it might come in handy if I can convince the new dog bakery in town to sell some of my pet sympathy cards. Even though I am not from the east coast, I gotta say it at least once – Wickedly cute!

That reminds me I need to get back to the TicTacToe challenge card that I am remaking since I got so excited and mailed it. Hopefully, the computer will cooperate enough for that.

  2. Vermonters appropriated “wicked” from our MA neighbors, & after 35 years here, that “wicked” is an ingrained part of my speech, even if my accent gives me away as a New Yorker. So, this project of yours is wicked awesome!! I feel some casing coming on…
