Just Peachy!

It seems my weekend was all about food…a crab fest, cupcakes, and peaches! Yesterday my daughter and I went to the annual Peach Festival in town. There’s nothing like fresh fruit when it’s in season…sweet and delicious!

Today’s card is just peachy! I made it for a friend who could use a little pick me up.  I thought I’d drop it off with some fresh peaches to brighten her day.

The DSP is from a Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper and it’s just as sweet as those peaches!

DSP Whole Lot of Lovely

This is another one of those “formula” cards that’s quick & easy to put together. I cut my card base 4 1/4 x 11 and scored it at 5 1/2. The DSP layer measures 3 1/2 x 5 with a mat that’s just 1/8 larger at 3 5/8 x 5 1/8. I like the way the ribbon looks like it is “hugging” the card. (At least that’s what I imagined and wanted to convey!) The sentiment is cut from the Lovely Words Thinlits Dies.  I have used the dies in this set a lot and find they are very versatile. I love that I can snip them out (like I did on this card) or just die cut the shape and layer it with paper behind it.

My card wouldn’t be complete without an envelope to coordinate.

I goes great with the basket of peaches.  You can really see how realistic the Designer Series Paper looks!

I also needed a thank you card so while I had my paper out I just cut for two! (I do that a lot!)  I changed it up a bit and used Peekaboo Peach cardstock and ribbon instead of Tranquil Tide.  I also used the Stitched Shapes Framelits and Layering Squares Framelits to layer the sentiment.

I’m glad I came home with a lot of peaches yesterday because I seem to be giving them away faster than I can make peach cobbler! Here’s both cards side by side. Do you have a preference?

    1. I agree! I wanted to try it with the peekaboo peach in seeing it was all about the peaches. The tranquil Tide with Pool Pool (or soft sky) is one of my favorite In Color color combinations!

  1. I’m with Karen: love the Tranquil Tide card. I’m a notorious paper hoarder, but I’m already into my 3rd pack of this DSP. It is just SO beautiful. The print you chose for today’s cards was the least favorite of mine but after checking out some examples on Pinterest I made it disappear right along with all the rest! Now I have to go get the ribbon! Enabler!!!

  2. I agree with the ladies…..tranquil tide is the winner! Both cards are beautiful, though, and I love the pic of the peaches. Yummy!

  3. Both cards are just peachy! Yep, tranquil tide for me too but again both are yummy. I love the word “hugs” but the tranquil tide ribbon/bow just grounded it. But, the peakaboo peach ribbon makes it seem juicier. I think I like the dark mat as well. Either way makes a great recipe!

  4. Jeanne, These cards make me so hungry for peaches again. Your photograph is especially enticing. We were in Georgia for a couple of weeks about 3 weeks ago and the peaches were so good. We brought back half a box but between neighbors and us they were gone in short order. Love both of the colors of paper with this DP! They are lovely cards and quick it looks like, too!

    1. I am headed to Georgia this week to bring my daughter back to college. I will have to do a taste test! When we were at the Peach Festival my daughter did think it was funny I was stocking up on peaches when we’re headed to Georgia known for their peaches! I get that they go fast! We have very few left so I will have to stock up again on my way home….there won’t be any room on the way there with all her college stuff!!!

  5. Love both cards, Jeanie, but the Tranquil Tide one wins my vote as well. Those peaches look delicious! I agree nothing is better than getting them local when they are in season. A funny story about my mother and grandmother taking me to college. Our station wagon was crammed full with not an inch to spare. The three of us sat in the front seat. Yes, it was a long time ago. LOL. On the way to Raleigh, there was a hitchhiker wanting a ride. We laughed about how he would have to sit on Granny’s lap if he rode with us. We laughed about that for years! Have a safe trip to Georgia and return and don’t pick up any hitchhikers, just peaches!

  6. No favorite…they are both gorgeous and I just can’t pick one over the other.

Enjoy your peaches. I haven’t had a good peach all summer! 😬 I buy them and they rot before they ripen.
