Eclectic Layers for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #7

It is obvious I am on vacation time…I didn’t even realize yesterday was Thursday which meant another Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  This week’s challenge board was designed by Teresa DeWitt-Pierce.  Be sure to check out her card (using all 9 elements!) and others at http://www.tictactoechallenge.com. Here’s this week’s challenge board.

I chose the far right row going down: diecut, floral, yellow. How easy is that?!

I could have used any flower (and so can you when you create your card for this week’s challenge) but I just had to go with my favorite daisy. This week’s challenge is a breeze and I really hope you will play along.  I think doing the tic tac toe challenge helps you to be more creative because you try different combinations that you might not have thought of otherwise. And if you are not feeling very creative, just pick 3 and you’ve got what you need to create! It’s fun to see what evolves.

I started with the Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies because I just got them and couldn’t wait to play! These dies are so versatile and unique…some of the dies emboss! Check out this video to see some of the different possibilities.

Here’s the details for my card this week..

My card base is Basic Black (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). The Whisper White layer (3 1/2 x 4 3/4) is cut with the Eclectic Layers Thinlits and wrapped with a piece of Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon. I added a piece of Color Theory Designer Series Paper (2 1/4 x 4 1/2) behind the die and adhered is to a piece of Crushed Curry (3 3/4 x 5). The sentiment is from Ribbon of Courage and stamped in Basic Black ink. I stamped and punched two daisies (Crushed Curry) and glued them together before adhering to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I added a Gold Faceted Gem in the center.  The Crushed Curry layer is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This card is quick & easy to create! I love the sentiment as it could be used for a birthday, get well, or sympathy card. Here’s a close up showing the Shimmer Ribbon and ombre DSP.

I used the same Color Theory DSP on the coordinating envelope.

I first made it with just a punched daisy then tried it with the stamped version.  I liked both and was not sure which one to showcase.  Which do you prefer…plain or stamped? Leave me a comment as to which one I should post on the tic tac toe challenge.

  1. Good morning, Jeanie. Both cards are very nice, but I think I prefer the stamped daisy, if I have to choose. I love the Eclectic Layers thinlets you used, which gives them so much interest. They are both very pretty and anyone would enjoy receiving them. Enjoy your Friday!

  2. Hi Jeanie! Like HJ, I would pick the stamped version. I like both as well. That one just has a little more interest, I guess! It is a beautiful card!

  3. I do like both cards, but I, too, am partial to the stamped daisy version. Great interpretation of the challenge, too–& I’ve seen several entries, all that have represented that last column, and they are all so different. That’s the beauty of a good Tic Tac Toe board: so many opportunities for creativity. So glad you played along this week!

  4. Pretty ! I like all of your selections for this card . Too bad the Daisy Punch is not obtainable at the present . I think I like the stamped one best . That Eclectic die is a new and trendy look !
I really like your card !

  5. I think it is unanimous, the stamped version of the daisy but both are sure pretty. I spent way too much time last week on trying to be clever with the “fuzzy” and didn’t finish my card. Today, I am knee deep in Halloween cards for a charity thing. Darn, if I can find those spider web doilies from last year or two ago. I have seen them recently. I probably stuck them in some place to remind me to use them and I am overlooking them. I colored some die cut flowers the other day but they were pinks.and of course left from class I took so I don’t have the die. Eventually I will get that daisy punch, hopefully. I love the colors you chose.

  6. Definitely the stamped version. It adds depth and character! Good job, Jeanie!

  7. Hi Jeanie, I really like the stamped version better. It just seems to come to life.
    🙂🌼

  8. Hi Jeanie! A little behind on posts but I love this card so much I just had to tell you!!! So beautiful! I agree with the gang, the stamped version!

  9. I’m either farther behind than Ramsey but I’m not bucking the status quo–I like the stamped version better too. Thanks for showing them side by side. Many times I’ve looked at daisy cards and wondered why they took time to stamp it! This is perfect example of the difference that extra step makes.

  10. I love it Jeanie and the so electic elements are great and I love how you offset the focal image against the diecut. Thank you for joining team X this week.
