Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series. Today’s fun fold is a Tunnel card. It is so cool when you open it up to reveal the “tunnel” on the inside of the card.
I love lighthouses! When I first saw the High Tide Stamp Set I knew I had to have it. I enjoy visiting lighthouses during our travels and learning the history of each. I made this card for my husband for Father’s Day. I am usually very last minute; however, this year I am going to be away for Father’s Day so I needed to make his card before I left. I love this sentiment from High Tide…it works for Father’s Day as well as other occasions. Parenting is not always easy and it helps to have someone to support you with the tough decisions. I feel like we got lucky in the kid department…we are blessed with two wonderful children and we are so proud of both of them.
Let’s get to today’s card…
You need two 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ sheets of card stock. The “window” piece is scored at 2-1/8, 4-1/4″ & 6-3/8″. I used Shimmery White and Marina Mist.
Die cut a window in the center of the window piece (I used the Layering Circles Framelits).
The “base” piece is stamped before folded in half. I did a watercolor wash on the top portion of my card using Soft Sky Ink and my Aqua Painter. I stamped the water with Marina Mist ink then sponged it with a sponge dauber.
Adhere the left panel and the right panel of the window piece to the base piece.
Decorate the front of the card as you like. I used Shimmery White cardstock and did the same watercolor wash, stamping, and sponging as I did on the inside. I used Sahara Sand around the base of my lighthouse. The lighthouse is a two step stamp. I used Dapper Denim and Smoky Slate then fussy cut the lighthouse.
I stamped the sentiment from Crazy About You in Marina Mist and layered this piece on a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 Marina Mist. I wrapped some Linen Thread and tied and bow before adhering it to the card base. It really is a simple card with a WOW factor when you open it! Some simple stamping on the envelope flap and it’s done! (A week ahead…I think this might be a record for me!! LOL)

I hope you enjoyed these photos of different lighthouses. I apologize for the quality… I was in a hurry and just took a photo of a photo for these directly from my scrapbooks. T is for TERRIFIC ! Your blog is TERRIFIC today ! Those Sea Gulls flying over the water is my favorite scene in that stamp set !! Of course being from N.C. I have a special interest in the Cape Hatteras lighthouse ! Your pictures are great BTW !!!!

Terrific tunnel card is correct. I love this card and I have not made one of these. Your choice for the stamp set is perfect. This will go on my to-do list eventually – I am wondering about other stamp sets though.
Now for answers you are really testing this landlocked lover. Some of these are guesses as I don’t have an illustrated guide to lighthouses and I admit I am lazy and don’t want to Google and try and figure these out. I remember you mentioning Cape May or was it Bar Harbor a few times maybe so I am guessing that for #8 and hoping 7 is Cape Cod! At least do I get an “A” for effort? 1. Boston 2. I sure thought of your yesterday. I also do needlework and in a needlework blog post or a store E-mail there was a feature on needlework lighthouses. There was definitely the Cape Hatteras light house and a bunch of others.
I actually have several more pics I could have posted. I just love lighthouses for some reason!

These fun folds are really easy to do! Sometimes they look more complicated than they actually are! Have fun creating!
I’ve always wanted to do a tunnel card so might give it a try with your good directions. I don’t have that wonderful lighthouse set though! I love guessing so here are my stabs at your lighthouse tours: 1) Boston; 2) Cape Hatteras (our pride here in NC); 3) Canada; 4) NC (don’t we have beauties?); 5) Prince Edward Island; 6) Nantucket; 7) Cape Cod; 8) Cape May, NJ. I love your light house and all the pictures!! Here is my guess! 1) Massachussets!!! A GREAT state! 2) Cape Hatteras Light in Buxton NC! Been there for a lot of windsurfing! 3) Canada! Been to Canada but missed this lighthouse! 4) C, North Carolina. Love the red brick and someday might have to check it out! 5) Prince Edward Island, can you believe I have an Aunt who had a house on Cape Breton Island and I never made it to visit! 6) Nantucket Harbor Lighthouse! Sailed by it many time! 7) Cape Cod, Chatham Lighthouse, taught sailing around the corner! 8) Cape May. Ok, sailed there but missed the lighthouse! Jeanie, I think I need to go on a lighthouse tour!!! What fun!
