M is for a Fun Fold

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series. Today’s fun fold makes the letter M.

BJ Peters shared this fun fold from Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage Convention and when you look at it from above it looks like the letter M.

OK so perhaps I am stretching it a little. Remember the book It Looked Like Spilt Milk? I was the kid who looked at the clouds for hours imagining different animals, letters, etc. in the shape of the clouds.

This is a quick and easy card to put together. The card base is 5 1/2 x 11 scored at 1 1/4, 4, and 6 3/4.  I used several patterns of DSP from the new 2017 – 2019 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  Cut (2) 1 x 5 1/4 for the front fold, then cut 1 at 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 and 4 x 5 1/4.  Adhere these to the card.  Cut a piece of 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 Whisper White to stamp a sentiment.  My sentiment is from a new stamp set, Ribbon of Courage (available June 1). I love the sentiments in this set! I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits to cut the dragonflies out of black cardstock.  I love the contrast of black with the new In Color, Lemon Lime Twist.

Stamp Set: Ribbon of Courage  Ink: Basic Black  Papers: Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White, Basic Black, 2017-2019 In Color Designer Series Paper Pack Tools & Accessories: Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Glue Dots

This card was so quick & easy I decided to make another one using the Moroccan Designer Series Paper.

This one has a completely different look just by changing the DSP and making it horizontal rather than vertical.  I think this one has a more masculine feel to it. The Moroccan Designer Series Paper I used on this one is retiring and is only available while supplies last.  You can get it at a 30% savings by shopping my online store and checking out the retiring list.

Have a Marvelous Day!

  1. So enjoying the Fun Fold cards. Such great ideas for sharing a special out of the ordinary touch with those we are thinking about. Thanks for sharing and have a Joy filled holiday week-end.

  2. I still look at clouds and imagine what the puffy shapes are. Does that make me a kid at heart? M could be for marvelous as this card is such. What a difference in the two by changing out the DSP. The ribbon there is a fun touch too. Yes, I am enjoying all these fun fold cards.

    1. Chris, we are as young as we feel! I want to be Peter Pan and “never grow up’! LOL I wanted to show the other version I made as I agree they look so different with different DSP. I have made a bunch of these cards as they are so quick & easy and a great way to showcase and use the DSP! I love that these showcase well sitting on a desk. I love fun folds!

  3. Memorial Day Masterpieces! Love the difference the orientation and change in DSP makes in the 2 cards. Looking at some of my bits and bobs of older paper in a different light after seeing all these marvelous fun fold cards. No excuse to avoid USING IT UP!
Have a great holiday weekend. Spending a few hours today and Monday volunteering with my GS at our local Vets’ Home. May we all remember the sacrifices of so many that have kept us free.

  4. A WOW card. Definitely in the to do. Maybe right now. LOL. Our boys just left. They had a blast at the concert and look forward to tomorrow for version two.

  5. I, too, still look at the clouds and use my imagination. It’s a fun distraction. Your cards are beautiful and so different. I love both versions….they are unique. Enjoy the day!

  6. Hi Jeanie, I just wanted to tell you how very much I love you beautiful folded cards.  I was introduced to SU in 2004 when an SU Demonstrator (but not an Independent Demonstrator) was offering monthly card making classes at our local library.  My demonstrator, Linda, was so enthusiastic about her crafting and I was immediately hooked.  I like that I can be a demonstrator and receive the discount but being an Independent Demonstrator is was out there for me.  But it is for that reason that people like you who have wonderful web sites and blogs are so important to people like me. For all your talent and any of your designers I thank you so very much.  Please keep it coming! Fondly,Barbara

  7. Love this card, Jeanie. Thanks for sharing! I plan to make this one with my class next week!
