I is for Interlocking Fun Fold

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series.  Today I am showcasing an Interlocking Gate Fold. This is one of the many variations to the Gate Fold cards I shared for the letter G.  (If you missed that post you can see it HERE.)  I adore daisies and can’t seem to get enough of the new Delightful Daisy Suite (available June 1st). The Designer Series Paper in this suite goes with so many different colors.  Here I paired it with Wisteria Wonder.

My daughter was going to bed as I was going downstairs to create this card. (I am a night owl and seem to be more creative in the evening.)  She asked what color card I was going to make today and I said I didn’t know yet. Her favorite color is purple so of course she said, “Purple always looks nice”.  So purple it is!

The real treat to this card is how it opens.

Here’s how to make this fun fold interlocking card…

Start with a piece of  4 1/4 x 11 piece of cardstock and score it at 2 3/4 and 8 1/4.  Fold on the score lines and adhere 2 pieces of 2 1/2 x 4 Designer Series Paper.  (I love this Delightful Daisy DSP!!!)

Die cut two layering shapes ( I used squares but you could use any layering dies) making sure one is about 1/4″ larger than the other.  I also cut a piece of DSP from the inside square and adhered that to the cardstock.

Adhere the scalloped square shape on the left gate flap making sure to just put adhesive on the half that attaches.  Adhere the right half of DSP square to the right gate flap.

I stamped the daisy twice on Shimmery Whisper White cardstock then blended the color a bit while it was still wet to give it the same washed look that is in the DSP.  I punched both out with the Daisy Punch and adhered them together with a glue dot.  I curled the ends of the daisy with my bone folder then attached the daisy to the center square with a glue dot.  I also stamped the inside of the card and the envelope with the daisy stamp but left the inside of the card blank.  This card could be used for just about anything and by leaving it blank for now I will be ready for any occasion.  All I have to do is stamp a sentiment inside and send!

  1. Inspiring! Thanks for the detailed instructions. I was sent an Interlocking card by my up-line a while ago and was too Intimidated to ask for Instructions.
I, too, am in love with the Daisy Suite and your choice of papers makes me smile. Great post. Thanks for all the effort you are putting into this brilliant alphabet series.

    1. I know what you mean about some cards looking intimidating! I felt that way about yesterday’s fold then realized it wasn’t hard at all. I am all about a simple card with a little WOW factor! Must be why I love fun folds! I think this paper and daisy is a wow all on it’s own!

  2. I is for Ingenious !! You are too clever ! This is a cute card and I think that Daisy is very proud to be the star of your FOLD !! I like this Daisy Suite also.

  3. Another blue ribbon, I’ll take a dozen of daisy’s! You are so talented and your instructions are stellar! I agree with the princess….this is my favorite too!

    1. Do you remember the first interlocking gate fold card I made (years ago)? You “challenged” me to figure out how to do it! Many laughs and several mistakes later and now everything is coming up daisies!!! LOL

  4. What an interesting fold. I have not done an interlocking one and wouldn’t have even known where to begin. With your instructions, I think I can, I think I can – oh wait that was a previous card or was it a book mark? Such a great way to relive the ABCs!
