Yesterday I promised to share with you a treat holder I made for my customers who shopped with me in April. I enjoy sending my card kits and little gifts to thank everyone who shops with me. I truly appreciate each and every order and hope this brightens their day.
Did you know Ghirardelli made strawberry filled chocolates? When I saw these I knew I could use the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper to make a fun treat holder for them. This origami fold has been around forever! (I remember making these when I was in school to use as a drinking cup.) Today I have a quick tip to help you line up the folds in record time!
The Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper (#130148) is an often overlooked “tool” in the catalog. I love it and use it all the time! (One day I will do a post about all the ways I use it!) Let’s get to how I used it to make this project quick & easy! I started with a piece of 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. Fold it in half to make a triangle then line it up along the grid paper.
Take the point at the bottom and fold it across to line up at 2 1/2″ on the opposite side. Fold and crease with your bone folder. Do the same for the other end…cross over and line up at 2 1/2″. The grid lines make it fast and easy to get the perfect size without having to measure and mark with a pencil.
Then you just fold down the flap at the top and you’re done. No adhesive necessary.
I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Blooms Stamp Set. I cut the sentiment and Red Glimmer paper with the Layering Ovals Framelits. I adhered them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This new alphabet series will be my fourth in the ABC series. You can easily access any of the past series by clicking on the drop down menu under Categories. My first series, ABC’s of Stampin’, is great for new stampers as well as experienced stampers. It has lots of information on the basics of stamping as well as helpful tips for using a variety of stamping tools. It’s also a great refresher course. I am always learning new techniques and ideas from my fellow demonstrators and stampers and love to share them with you.
Next came the ABC’s with DSP. You know how I love my Designer Series Paper! That series showcased different ways to cut your paper to make the most out of it with little waste. I love it when I can use every last scrap! I am still so disappointed that the 12 x 12 DSP Paper Stacks are retiring. I know it could get a bit pricey if you bought all 6 stacks but many demonstrators (myself included) offer Paper Shares to help you get a sample of them all without breaking the bank. I have only offered paper shares to my local customers in the past but am willing to consider shipping if that is something you are interested in when the new catalog debuts June 1st. I am hoping Stampin’ Up! will consider bringing back the paper stacks for the different color families, perhaps in 6 x 6 stacks to make it more affordable. Luckily, we will have some great new paper packs and fun color combinations available to work with when the new catalog debuts. FYI…the In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks are still available for both 2015 – 2017 and 2016 – 2018 colors. Unfortunately, the Brights, Neutrals, Regals, and Subtles have already sold out. Also, the current Designer Series Paper packs will be retiring the end of May and are only available while supplies last. Many are still available at some great sale prices! (See below for the retiring list of DSP. ) The Fruit Stand DSP used on today’s project is on sale for $8.80 (20% Savings).
My most recent alphabet series, ABC’s with the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs, focused on the new products in these catalogs. You are soooooo right about the grid paper – this is funny as I was going to showcase that on my tips as I used it a bunch last week when I was doing kits as the grids make life soooo easy! I definitely think that this is breezed right by!
We think alike! I say GO FOR IT!!! Write that post and share tips on using the grid paper. I think our readers would find it helpful! We can collaborate! I find it so useful and think it is overlooked… people just think of it as a piece of paper to protect their work space and it is SO MUCH MORE!!!

LOL I agree with you about living in Pella…that chocolate was yummy! I would be one of those people waiting in the loooong line down the block!!! But think how fun it would be to have Chris as a neighbor!!! My belly already hurts just laughing at her posts!!!
The little store front chocolate shop is between the two bakeries and next to one of the meat markets. They actually make the candies at their home and then Matt brings to their little area to sell. They also have them for sale at the Hallmark store and one of the grocery stores. It is a father/mother and daughter that actually make the candy. The toffee is to die for. They do have a web site and mail order. I am wondering if it is already too hot to mail some. The meat places to a huge business with their Pella ring bologna – sort of a spicy sausage thing and other kinds besides the jerky and meat sticks as well as cheeses. The other meat shop has a little café and they have the best soups and sandwiches and the bread pudding is excellent. When it is the national sprint car races in a neighboring town of Knoxville, you should see the men in line to get into both the bakeries and the meat shops! More wives are coming along too now. But, it is a hoot to see a line up of guys with the blue and white striped bakery bags and the meat ones trying to get into a store. They argue who has the best of whatever. Ted loves the lines of people generally so he moves down the line to get petted. But this weekend there was just way too many people like thousands and too much noise with the sound system and some wooden shoes etc. When I see a count of how many tulips were planted in the city beds and how many showed up I will let you know as it is astounding. Then, at the end of the month when they remove the tulip bulbs to plant other flowers – residents get first choices of digging them for themselves and then at the end of the week, open to anyone to dig up the bulbs in the city beds. Alas, I am too lazy!

I am going to say the theme will be color. Personally I love the texture idea but I don’t know if you could do that many posts. Same for florals.
Yes Susan, I made sure it was milk chocolate for Jeanie. My holder was easy to do too and maybe Jeanie will make one to show you how easy. Ghiradelli chocolates fit in there too as well as sticky note pads etc. Pella is not my home town, we moved here. Thank goodness the Tulip Festival is over and things are back to normal. The week before there was a line to one of the bakeries 1/2 block long! Plus they were lined up out the door to the other one. We hardly ever go to them – usually for gifts or someone coming to visit wanting them.
Ahhh..Chris I did look in to doing a series on techniques but I like to keep it simple and stress free and I have to say I have tried some different techniques and some I like and others just stress me out so I know I wouldn’t look forward to posting a new technique every day. I have to do what I like and enjoy making and what I will use. Different techniques are fun to do now and then but it’s just no my everyday style. Make sure you check back tomorrow for the PALS Blog Hop as it is all about Stepping it Up with Texture or Technique.
I will be sure to do that tomorrow. I forgot to tell you I love the little strawberry treat holder. I had one of those as a drink cup at school as I was too little to reach the big kids drinking fountain and too many kids liked to come by and hit my head so I would get my face in the water of the little fountain. My 1st grade teacher made one of these for me and I carried it in my pencil case! Of course chocolate was not involved darn it!

I am going to order an extra pack of the Fruit Stand DSP so I have some of the lemon DSP to go with it. Oh Sonny, they have these wagons with benches so about 40-50 can sit in them and they are pulled by huge tractors. They are covered to keep the sun or rain off people. They have spielers – people in Dutch costumes telling about the sights on the tour. They have a script to read from but some deviate from them which is sometimes fun if they someone who lives there etc. Saturday late afternoon there was a huge group of Central College students in one and the girl doing the announcing announced that the charming dark green bungalow is where “OUR” Teddy lives. The guys riding started a chant, TEDDY, TEDDY, TEDDY. The boy was dead to the world snoozing on the couch! Mike got a kick out of it as he thinks I make this stuff up. We live one block from the college and a few blocks from the town square. It is all in the location!!!!
The guesses are great and all could be right! My guess would definitely be the ‘New Catalog’ to premier on June 1st! So Many great things to come and I can’t wait to see your ‘Alphabet’ Series!

You should see my photo (not the best) to the right and then below that is a SEARCH button, RECENT POSTS, then CATEGORIES with a drop down menu. If you click there you will see the previous alphabet posts. Just click on whichever series you want to view. The only thing is you it will show up Z – A and do the alphabet backwards this way as it goes by most recent post first. LOL Below the Categories button is ARCHIVES where my posts are sorted by months. How this helps!

The treat holder and tips on using the grid appear are great. I pinned them for sure! Knowing you are a teacher, I’m going to guess the theme is summertime. I know as a retired teacher, I still count down the days until school is out and we have a summer break!

Hmmm….theme….I’m with you Chris…..did not think like that. Perhaps a red, white, blue theme.
Oh dear I didn’t think I would stump you all! Clearly a clue is in order. First of all by “theme” I mean every post has something in common. Example…When I did The ABC’s of DSP every letter started with a different pack of DSP… A is for Affectionately Yours DSP, B is for Blooms and Bliss DSP. C is for Candy Cane Lane DSP. etc. If I were doing the ABC’s of Ink every letter would begin with a different color of ink. (We are missing a few letters! LOL)
Here’s a clue…While this is not an ABC’s of Technique series, it is a type of technique and one that I have shared before. For this series I will focus on a different version of this technique for every letter of the alphabet. Hope this helps! Good Luck! Well, we know it is all about me! Our house is also about 6 blocks from Pella Windows world headquarters if you have heard about them! It is a small town though.
So I’ll guess again…maybe fun folds? Seems there are endless different folds so there could be one for evey letter of the alphabet!
Though I still like summer. A is for Adirondack chair, B is for Beach… you could do a card using differnt stamp sets for each letter related to something for summer! 🙃
OOooh…I like this idea of a summertime theme…perhaps next. I wonder if there is something summer related for every letter. Feel free to keep brainstorming a list for me! LOL

Reading all these post are such fun! I have now looked at the Pella website, oh my what a fun town to live in Chris R! And I found my self saying “Labsta” out loud as I was reading Cheryl’s post. There must still be some New England in me! As for the ABC’s….How about the ABC’s of the retiring items???
Even with your clue I still don’t know but I sure like the fun fold idea. Of course the “Z” fold came to mind and you could do an X easy enough probably. But what could the “Q” be – Quasimodo fold? Questionable fold? Whatever. I know the quilted look! That is not a fold, not an embelishment, but a focal point theme? Hey, I have had 2 Diet Cokes already and it is only a little after 9:00 our time. Ted and I took a walk early because of the impending thunderstorms coming.
