The Vertical Garden Stamp Set that coordinates with this kit has two simple words…Welcome and Hello.

This is a Two-Step Stampin’ set. Combine individual stamps to create the final image you want in the colors you want. These bold statements can be used for other projects and cards.

OK…Confession time…several years ago Stampin’ Up! had a kit to make a spring wreath with flowers and burlap ribbon.  Does anyone remember that one?  I put the kit together and hung it on my classroom door for the season.  When it was time to take it down I suppose I could have stored it for another year but I pulled the whole thing apart and reused the flowers and ribbon on cards. (tee hee)  I love to recycle and reuse and I loved that wide burlap ribbon! I know I am not alone here…who can relate? Here’s a funny story…I sent my nephew a birthday card and (unknown to me) my sister takes it and reuses it to send to my brother.  My brother doesn’t know I made the card and he reuses it and sends it to my daughter for her birthday.  I look at her card and think it looks familiar. (He had combined a sentiment from another card my mother sent him that I had also made). It just so happens that my sister was visiting when my daughter got the card.  Boy did we have a good laugh when the truth finally came out!  Now whenever I send my brother a card I always include an extra envelope and blank insert. LOL  It must have something to do with growing up with 6 kids and getting “hand me down” clothes, bicycles, etc. 🙂

So, in the spirit of recycling...Let’s have a Card Swap!  Who’s in?  Simply make a card and mail it to me along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. I will swap out the cards and send you a card someone else has shared. I will showcase all the cards on my blog. I am excited to see and share your creations! Mail your cards to me by February 22nd…that’s 3 weeks from today! Now, use what you have and go create something!

  1. OH YES, count me in. I love card swaps. Looking forward to it. What a funny story about recycling cards. Sometimes I do that too.
    Happy Hump Day
    🙂

  2. Count me in too!!! This will be my second swap ever. I love your story!!! I have a sister-in-law who reuses old store-bought cards she has received. My brother saves every card I send. I will have to share your story with them!!! It might help with their attempt to cull down the clutter!

  3. I have a friend that recycles all my cards…now when I send them to her…I include another envelope and I stamp the inside on a post-it note so she can reuse the card!
Another friend I have, saves all my cards! The Christmas Cards I send her…she hangs them on her tree!
    Feeling the Love!!!!
BTW…do you want the cards blank? or can they have a greeting/sentiment?

    1. Cheryl, feel free to stamp the inside or leave it blank. I enjoy stamping the inside to coordinate if it’s a birthday or sympathy card for example. I usually leave thank you notes blank inside as I like to write a personal note. You do whichever works for you! No pressure, just fun!
I’m sure it makes you feel good that your friend keeps your cards! I have a friend who displays my cards as part of her decor. It warms my heart when I know someone enjoys them that much! I love this craft we share!

  4. How funny ! I love to “Re-Purpose” cards ,but have never stretched that far ! Love it I
When I send out my monthly swap cards I always leave them w/o writing inside so if my swap buddy wants to recycle . Your swap plan sounds fun !
Maybe I will CASE Chris R`s card for the swap ! MAYBE !

  5. Now how in the world could I top your story? That is too funny!!!! I used to work at the garbage/recycle center in the office and I would have loved to have put that in our newsletter! It was always fun to get great stuff in from recycling but then they went automated the last couple of years so I missed all the treasures. I did a recycled tree for charity too and that was fun – even the tree was left out on the curb!

Do we have any theme in mind or anything goes for the swap? Only SU stuff or any brand? Something recycled? Oh, Sonny the card is so easy to make – trust me on this! I just liked the idea of the way it opened for a change.

Count me in Jeanie – I love swaps! Oh now I have to come up with something really fun, oh the pressure is on! Man, I am having an anxiety attack already!

    1. No pressure Chris! Just fun!! Of course I love to showcase Stampin’ Up! (makes it easy to CASE) but anything goes! Use what you have. Handmade is the name of the game. 🙂

    2. I wish I had the card to show but of course my daughter wanted to recycle it to send back to my brother for her thank you note! That was one well traveled card back and forth down the east coast! It reminds me of that movie about a pair of jeans shared by some friends…I wish I could remember the name of it!?? Perhaps I should try to pitch this story to Hollywood! LOL

  6. Loved your story! How funny that must have been to look at her card and think…hmmm…!
I will participate in your swap. Sounds like fun 🙂 Theme? or anything goes??

  7. That is hilarious, Jeanie!! I will try my best to participate! I don’t know how you tore that wreath apart. I put mine in a box for storage. It’s so pretty in my bathroom for spring!

  8. I love your story. Priceless! My sister didn’t want to throw my cards away but she didn’t keep things (very minimalistic), so I started signing my name on a post it note inside and including an extra envelope for her to recycle it. So two got to enjoy the card but not like your traveling card! I’m impressed your brother could repurpose like that! Count me in–I love swaps too.

  9. I would LOVE to play with you all. This will be my first card swap and can’t wait. Great idea and wonderful story Jeanie. Is it ok to case a card for the swap?
