My Favorite Things and Blog Candy Winner!

Last week I created a little “quiz” for the letter Q in my alphabet series.  It was fun reading your responses and it was really hard to narrow down my favorites.  To be fair, I wrote down my answers before I posted the blog quiz.  I admit it seems like my favorites sometimes change daily as I usually fall in love with what I am presently using to create.  Though, for me to purchase and invest in something new,  it has to have my #1 requirement…versatility!   Here’s my answers to the quiz…

  1. What new item from the Occasions catalog was #1 on my list (had to have!)?

watercolor-pencils

Most of you got this one…the watercolor pencils.  I couldn’t contain my excitement at the Stampin’ Up! convention when I saw these and got to play with them!  I love to color and paint and have never considered myself all that great at it.  These watercolor pencils are so easy to use and they make everyone look like an artist!  🙂 There are thirteen pencils in Stampin’ Up! colors: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White.  Paired with Blender Pens or AquaPainters, they are perfect for watercoloring. Check out this video.

2. What is my favorite bundle in the Occasions catalog?

There are 14 new bundles in the Occasions catalog and I have purchased 10 of them! (I love that I can save 10% when purchasing Stampin’ Up! bundles.)  This is my favorite Stampin’ Up! catalog to date!  This was the toughest category for me to choose just 1 favorite as each has something special that I love.  I decided I needed to go with my first love… the one that I put on my demonstrator preorder, Dragonfly Dreams.

This set makes gorgeous stamped and cut out images and it fits the versatility test. I can use this set for anything…from note cards to birthday, sympathy, thinking of you, or thank you cards.  And it is fun to color with my watercolor pencils! I also love that I can make a quick & easy card that makes a statement! I really thought the fact that I made calendar cards with these would have been a hint…it’s something I am going to look at every day all year long! 🙂

3. What is my favorite Designer Series Paper in the Occasions catalog?

so-in-love-dsp

This category was tough as I love my DSP!  I think it is the different, blurred look of this paper that has me in love with Falling in Love Designer Series Paper. You really need to see it in person.  I wasn’t overly impressed with the catalog image but, when I saw it up close and personal, I had to buy it. Again, it goes back to versatility.  I have used this for many different occasion cards lately. (Click HERE or HERE or HERE to see several cards I’ve made using this paper.)

4. What is my favorite Suite in the Occasions catalog?

I kept going back and forth between my top 2 suites so I decided to go with a tie on this one because I love all the embellishments, etc. that goes with each of these suites. The Falling in Love Suite has the beautiful font (and sentiments for the inside), gorgeous lace doilies, metal embellishments, satin ribbon, and the Falling Petals Embossing folder (Click HERE to see a card I made using this embossing folder).

I make and need a lot of birthday cards and the Party Animal Suite has large fonts that I love and it is versatile to use for tags as well as masculine and kid cards. I love the party hat and balloon embellishments to add a special touch.  The Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Dies are so cool and make fun pop up and shaker cards! (Click HERE to see a card I made with this set. Be sure to check back to see a shaker card I made.)

5.What is my favorite Sale-A-Bration gift?

sab-card-tin

Another tough category to choose from…especially when they are all FREE!  I had to go with the Card Tin as I love to give cards as gifts and this makes a wonderful presentation!  I am using one as a perpetual birthday calendar and organizer for myself. (Click HERE to see my card tin and print a perpetual calendar for yourself or as a gift.)

Now that you know some of my favorites, what are yours?  Leave me a comment with your favorite new item (or items) from the Occasions or Sale-A-Bration catalog or both. I look forward to sharing more of these items with you.  Now for the winner with the highest score on the “quiz”… There was a tie…both Mary Ann and Jeannine had 4 out of 5 answers. Congratulations! I know I said I would use random.org to pick a winner if there was a tie but, I would rather send both of you a gift.  Email me your address (j.stark@myactv.net)  along with the Sale-A-Bration item you would like. (I will be placing my order January 31st.)  Thanks so much to all of you who played along. I love hearing from you and always appreciate you taking the time to comment.  You inspire me to keep sharing my projects! Check back tomorrow as I continue my alphabet series showcasing new products in the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. You are to funny! I did not do my homework and totally flunked the quiz!😂 I absolutely had to have the Party Animal goodies. All those colors! And the Chicks! So fun! Thanks for all your great posts and cards! You are an inspiration to me!!!!

    1. You crack me up! If you were sitting beside me in Atlanta you would have had question #1 no problem! LOL This just proves that we need to get together more often to stamp!!! I am planning to CASE your chicken card! 🙂 You are an inspiration too my friend!

  2. Oh, ha, ha, ha Ramsey . . . I didn’t even take the quiz! I knew I would not be close. Does that mean I don’t pay attention to Jeanie’s blog? I certainly hope not. So congrats to the winners, Mary Ann and Jeannine! How nice to both be winners.
My favorite SAB item is Hey Chick. Two bundles that I ordered are Sealed with Love and Birthday Blast.
    Have a great Monday!
    🙂

    1. I don’t think there is much you could go wrong with in this new catalog! Like I said, it’s my favorite catty to date!!! I have been trying to pace myself. LOL

  3. Congrats Jeannine on our win! So fun! My fav SAB is Hey Chick which I already received and can’t wait to play with, especially the Phyllis Diller chick. Thanks again, Jeanie, for the blog candy and your inspiration. WhooHoo!

  4. Congrats to Jeanine and Mary Ann!
We do have to admit…We love it all! I think this would be hard to nail down as to a favorite…depends on what I am making…but my SAB winner was the ‘Tin’ too! I am using mine to gift cards into for my Sisters. We get together once a year and give each other gifts. Now I have a great presentation ‘Tin’ to gift them! The other favorite SAB…the Delicate Details, very versatile! I see them on many cards in my future!

    1. I will have to ink up those Delicate Details…they are so pretty! There is not enough hours in the day to play with all my stamps! Countdown to summer! 🙂 Thanks for playing along with the “quiz”!

  5. Love the alphabet twist ! My first items from the Occ. catty were the Watercolor Pencils and the Love Notes dies . I try to be sensible because like you I think of versatility ,but BOY OH BOY do I want that Carousel Stamp set !!! Love that horse and the Birthday font !! I have been known to buy a die set or stamp set for one item and I do believe this HORSE is going to be it !!
From the SAB selection I have gotten that Tasty Truck and Delicate Details so far ….another order is in the making and between Susan and Brian I guess I will choose AVANT GARDEN !!
Love your blog ….wonder how I missed it ???

    1. Sometimes it stinks trying to be sensible. As much as I look for versatility I too have been known to buy a stamp set if there was one particular stamp I “couldn’t live without”! LOL I happen to also believe in “do what makes you happy”. I love this craft as it not only makes me happy, I can share that happiness with others. Sonny, you will love Avant Garden…a great choice and it passes the versatility test. 🙂 Check out my A is for Avant Garden post…simple design you can use with many diff. colors and DSP! Glad you stopped by!

  6. Oh Jeanie, what is wrong that your wonderful blog doesn’t come to my E-mail? I have subscribed 4 times now with the latest like yesterday. Don’t you like me? I will leave you lots of fun comments like I do Susan and several others. I forget to pop in everyday so I just scrolled through a bunch of your posts. I am totally in love with that yellow flower with the black and white polka dots and those goodies for Susan were so gorgeous. Do we know why I can’t receive your blog? It is not nice to make people cry when they are trying to be nice!

    1. Oh Chris, I am so sorry it won’t let you subscribe! I’ve only known of this happening one other time and it was not anything I could do on my end…it was something with her computer not accepting. Are you trying to subscribe via email or wordpress?

    2. Hi Chris, I am have been following Jeanie for a while and love her creative genius. I love to Pin her cards. For the last couple of days I was not able to. Today I thought that if I restarted my computer (I am so bad, I rarely do) that maybe it would reset itself. Bingo! It worked and I am able to Pin things again. You may restart every day but it is a though! I sure do hope you can get it working!
