Happy 90th Birthday to Sister Corda!

Last week I had my monthly get together with my Paper Pumpkin Players.  Everyone put together their kits and made lots of alternative cards and projects (Thanksgiving table favors, boxes, etc.) but the fun didn’t stop there. After spending the afternoon crafting we surprised Sister Corda with a Paper Pumpkin Party in honor of her 90th birthday!  She is one of the most amazing people I know and she loves her Paper Pumpkin kits and crafting as much as I do!

Before I share pictures of our Paper Pumpkin get together and surprise dinner party, I want to show you one of the cards and gifts I “wrapped” for Sister Corda. I had a special request to make a 90th birthday card for Sister Corda (and to order her a new set of the standard cutting pads for her Big Shot).  Here is the card I made.

I made a double z fold card. (Click HERE  for directions and to see the one I made previously for my daughter.) I used the Large Numbers Framelits to cut the 90 from Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I used the Party Pop-Up Thinlits to cut the Happy Birthday die then I cut it apart to go across the front.  The inside sentiment is from a retired stamp set and was the perfect saying for Sister Corda. I stamped the sentiment then punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.

I wanted to wrap the cutting pads in matching DSP so I used the envelope punch board and a piece of 12 x 2 DSP to make a large envelope to hold the cutting pads. It was easy to make following the directions right on the envelope punch board. The standard cutting pads fit perfectly inside!

I decorated the large custom envelope by placing the card in a clear envelope and adhering it to the front of the package.  I added some Mint Macaron ribbon and it was complete and ready to deliver.

Here’s a few of the Paper Pumpkin projects we made. Pictures below is one of the alternative cards Sister Corda made with the leftover punched leaves from the kit. She sponged the leaves and embossed trees and added a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.

Paula made the box using one of the cards in the kit. (Check back tomorrow for directions how to make it.)

I love crafting with these ladies! (Unfortunately Margie had to leave early before this picture was taken.)

I surprised Sister Corda with one of her favorite dinners (Maryland crab cakes) and an ice cream cake for dessert. Everyone popped their “pumpkin” crackers and adorned their party crowns.
