Y is for Shades of Yellow

We are near the end of my ABC’s with DSP series.  My favorite color is yellow.  I’d say  I’m mostly a Daffodil Delight or So Saffron shade of yellow gal; however, I have a new found likeness for Delightful Dijon since discovering the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack. Previously, I shared a window pane card I made with this DSP Stack.  If you missed it (and the cool trick to make a double window), you can Click HERE.  Today I am going to share another card I made using one of the photographic artwork designs.

I had a request to make some cards for a patient undergoing cancer treatment.  I thought this paper would be perfect as I love the underlying “wish” in the design. I remember as a kid I would pick these “flowers”, make a wish, and blow the seeds everywhere.

This was a simple card to put together and I used every bit of my 6 x 6 DSP.  First I cut 2 1/4 x 6 from the top section of my paper (which I used to adhere to the flap on my envelope).  Then I cut 1 inch off my remaining 3 3/4 x 6 piece.  (I saved the 1 x 3 3/4″ piece for the inside of my card.) I heat embossed my sentiment using a cool technique for color embossing.  First you ink the stamp in Versa Mark. Then, with the Versa Mark on your stamp, ink it in the color of your choice before stamping it on your cardstock. (I chose Soft Suede ink.)  Next, sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder on your sentiment, pour the excess back in your container and heat your stamped image with the heat tool.  You can heat emboss any color you want using the Clear Embossing Powder!  How cool is that?!

I layered my DSP on Soft Suede cardstock ( just 1/8″ larger) and added some linen thread to keep it light.  (I tried ribbon but I didn’t want to cover any of the beautiful design on my paper.)  I popped the layer up on dimensionals and adhered it to a Delightful Dijon card base.  I repeated the layers for the inside of my card and added the 1 inch piece I had leftover from my 6 x 6 piece.
