It’s a Delightful Day!

Today’s the day you can order from the Holiday Catalog!

Before you start browsing, check out this quick and simple project I made using some new 6 x 6 DSP, Warmth & Cheer.  I made a mini notebook and pen set in keeping with the Back to School theme this week. I chose Delightful Dijon for this Delightful Day! (I admit I was tempted to keep up the apples but my daughter called to tell me “enough with the apples!”LOL)  What do you think of the stars?

The pen is a Pentel RSVP pen which you can buy just about anywhere.  It opens easily so you can wrap a piece of DSP  (7/8 x 3 1/2) around the pen and slide it back in. That’s all there is to it. I made 12 of these pens in all different colors of Brights & Subtles for the hairdressers. Everyone has their own unique color pen so no gets their pen mixed up.

I used the same DSP to make a matching mini notebook. I bought these at our local Dollar Store. You get a pack of 3 for $1.  You can’t beat that!  I love the wishes sentiment with the stars.  This could be used to write your wish list from the holiday catalog, Christmas wishes, ideas, a journal, etc.  It would make a great graduation gift too!  You could have family members and friends write their wishes for the graduate in the book. That would be a treasured keepsake. I always keep a little notebook in my purse and I like these as I’m not losing pieces of paper.  I can check things off my list, write reminders, add notes, etc.

I cut 2 pieces of DSP 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 and glued them to the cover and back.  The Multipurpose Glue allowed for some wiggle time to get it just right before it dried.  Then I trimmed any excess with my paper snips and rounded the corners.   I used the new Delightful Dijon ribbon (part of a trio pack) to wrap along the binding and tie in a knot. I added some metallic enamel stars to finish it off. (Check out the Specials below to save on the enamel shapes this week!)

  1. Good Morning Jeanie . . . the stars are wonderful. This is a cute gift to give to local people! 🙂

Couldn’t get this to post on the blog.

*Pax, Nance* *. .* *.* *Remember, be kinder than necessary because everyone is fighting some kind of battle**

  2. How clever to make these little notebooks special! Love this idea. Also, I did not get to post yesterday on the apples but I find them simply adorable! Definitely basing both these ideas! Enjoy your day!

  3. What great ideas, Jeanie, for gifts or personal use. I have covered notebooks in the past, but I like adding the DSP to the pen for a matching set. TFS

  4. Great ideas, Jeanie. I like the ribbon on the binding. Did you just go all around the back and glue it on? or is it just around the front cover? I’ll be trying these!

    1. I just went around the front cover so you can open and close it normally. I opened the notebook and wrapped the ribbon on the inside cover and tied on the front. No glue necessary. I probably should have taken a pic. Let me know if this isn’t clear and I’ll be happy to add a photo. Quick & Easy!!! Oh yea, and really cheap to make a bunch too!!! I use them for myself a lot! ( I have to write everything down!! LOL) I’m going to make monogrammed ones for the hairdressers. I make those ladies treats every month!

  5. Love the little notepad and pen idea! Can’t wait to make a few of these for friends and co-workers!

  6. Hmmm, Tried to post yesterday and it said I had already posted. “Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!” So there! I am beating the system! Here is the post, Jeanie, you keep coming up with the best ideas! Love the notebook and especially the pen!
