Marriage is a Journey

IMG_1067

Last week was my wedding anniversary.  I was inspired by a birthday card a member of our card club had shared.  I changed it up a bit and made this card for my  husband. We both like to travel and have had many adventures over the years. We are preparing for a special journey this summer so I thought this sentiment from Flourishing Phrases was perfect for his card. I love the way the sentiment pairs with the images from the Traveler stamp set. I stamped the images in soft suede ink on very vanilla card stock.  I added a mat with basic black.  The designer series paper is from the neutrals pack and I really like the way the gold looks with the soft suede. I added a layer of black behind the DSP.  I stamped the sentiment in basic black ink and and cut it out with the Big Shot using a thinlit from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits.

Next I wrapped some linen thread and tied it.  I used my piercing tool to poke a hole to thread the sentiment through before I tied the bow.  I added a gold heart from the Metallic Enamel Shapes then added the layer to a very vanilla card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. And of course I stamped the envelope to match.

It just so happened we were actually traveling on our anniversary. We had to take our daughter to Georgia for her college orientation.  We stopped in Virginia (where our story began) and spent a wonderful afternoon with friends at Natural Bridge. What a beautiful day taking in the wonders of nature. Virginia will always hold a special place in my heart! Here’s a couple of pictures from our trip.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
